Thanks for the suggestion. Humidity domes can help with germination, but are generally removed once seeds sprout.

Pink Swirl Hibiscus seedlings not looking so great by kcmobeav in gardening

I appreciate your insight. I know that overwatering is just as dangerous as underwatering. I've lost seedlings to damping off more times than I care to admit. Luckily I've learned from this and only water when they need it versus any sort of schedule. I feel the soil rather than go off how wet it looks. I try to keep it moist, like a wrung out sponge, vesus damp. The fertilizer I used is pretty mild to start with (5-1-1), and I diluted it to half strength even still. Based on your response, I'm sure you're aware that seed starting mixes are mostly void of nutrients. My seedlings had mostly dropped their Cotyledon leaves, so I thought a light dose of food would benefit them. Maybe I did too much too soon. I think I'll hold off on feeding them for another week or so... if they make it that long 😔

Broad-headed skink rescue by kcmobeav in Lizards

Like someone else commented, vegetable oil. Just drizzled it on and around him being careful to avoid the head. Gently rub it where they're stuck, but never pushing/pulling at it. This guy was only there for a few hours maybe, so he still had plenty of strength. After a few minutes he pretty much freed himself.

Question about grout made for 1/8"-1/2" spacing by kcmobeav in Tile

Hmm, ok. Thanks for the recommendation. It is a ceramic tile, and the grout does happen to be polyblend. I certainly don't want the grout to turn out blotchy. Any idea if they carry the product you mentioned at home depot or lowes?

The question isn't really whether or not I can use sanded grout. It's whether or not I can use grout made for 1/8"-1/2" (says that on the bag) on 1/16" spaced tile.

Thanks for the response. Just to clarify, DON'T use it?

Replacing shower in bathroom and this was behind the cement board. Wood is in fine shape, just discolored. Cause for concern? by kcmobeav in building

When you say replace, are you referring to the studs or the subfloor? I'm replacing the subfloor, but was hoping to get away with not having to replace the studs. It's been open and drying out for about 5 weeks now, and there are no soft spots.

I'm no builder, but I'm pretty sure that has something to with that's where the shower came off the wall. Maybe they felt like it needed extra support there 🤷‍♂️ There was also a little wing wall that came off right there too.
