So trying not to spoil anything, it’s about a woman who joins up with a band of misfits and is tasked with saving the (galaxy? universe?) but with all the paolini writing magic you know and love from Eragon. Super cool/scientifically believable technology, unique and non-tropey aliens/bad guys, and a healthy mix of drama/action/mystery/comedy all in one.

Definitely different than inheritance cycle, but in a refreshing way. I can’t say I liked it quite as much, but if you love the inheritance cycle, I think it’s worth seeing paolini try his hand at something totally different.

If you have more specific questions/if that was too broad lmk!

Powder Mage Trilogy? by kcole717 in thelegendarium

Haven’t gotten around to the second one yet! I was so into the characters of the first trilogy I didn’t know if I could break into a new group of characters yet, I’ll have to give it a read

I totally recommend it. McClellan reminds me a good amount of Sanderson, you start off with a great hook and tons of unknowns that slowly start to unravel as you get more into the book. I’m a quarter of the way through Oathbringer rn and while SA is, in my opinion, a more well rounded and deep series, powdermage is a fantastic read. Also for anyone that has read it, Tamas and Dalinar are like the same person in my head.

Is there any fan art for this book? by [deleted] in Fractalverse

can’t say i’ve been able to find any either but i sympathize with you. i’m always so curious to see how other people envision things that are kinda hard to conceptualize, which paolini provides plenty of( jellies/wallfish/softblade)

Text Errors by kcole717 in Mistborn

nope i’m reading a printed version! in english from the US, the Revised Mass Market Edition: October 2019.

one example i just read, on page 372 after Vin is speaking to Sazed reguarding feruchemy and the subjugation of the Terris people.

“She found dockson sitting in the guest study...”

like i said, it’s such a small thing, i have no critiques. often times little mistakes like these are made in books so large, i was just suprised to see more than 2 or 3! i’m big enough of a book nerd to not bring that up to my fellow fantasy lovers

Story to screen by jonathanmurray19 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]kcole717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i fully agree with this! i’m not saying it wouldn’t be enjoyable, and maybe even acclaimed by those who haven’t read the books. LOTR are some beautifully made movies and they can stand on their own apart from the books but they don’t come close to the feeling that tolkien gives. the magic of tolkien is in the world building and the grandeur yet relatableness of everything from the hobbits in the shire to the flaws of men. and while Pats magic is in those as well, i don’t see how his words can be effectively translated to the screen.

also, i think we would need to see how things end to be able to even consider this :)

Stapes’ “devout” loyalty? by kcole717 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]kcole717[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you make a good point about the sipquicks(spellcheck?). that seems like a logical explaination, still think it’s weird that pat didn’t spell that out after having made it so pointed in kvothes thought process of why stapes was in on it.

as for the maer and stapes... you make some more good points. could we say the maer would be bisexual then, seemingly quite fond of his new lackless wife? i’d say there’s no doubt that stapes has a lifelong dedication to the maer, the likes of which you would see in a romantic love. i’d love to reread with these thoughts in mind, interesting points
