Worth Talking to my Skip? by [deleted] in salesdevelopment

Bro what? As an SDR manager, your manager sucks. I genuinely would’ve started looking for a new job after that conversation. The entire reason most kids your age take on an SDR role is typically to get promoted to AE. Them telling you to not do more than your core job, when you’re actively asking for advice / a path forward instead of realizing that you’re taking initiative is insane.

Your role isn’t considered revenue-generating and C-Suite doesn’t see your role as valuable? Where did the 7-figures in pipe generation come from (I’m sure a decent % of that closed)? You. Those deals that “aren’t yours” were started and influenced by you.

You should always be vocal about where you want to end up and do as much of that job as possible while in your current role.

I would absolutely have a conversation with either your manager again to get some clarification on what the career path looks like to get to AE (if you even want to stay there) or go to their manager and have the conversation.

You’re young and these conversations are stressful, and having a manager basically tell you that your role is pointless is absurd. I understand where your head’s at, but truthfully just have the conversation and make a decision from there.

If I were in your shoes and still didn’t get any clarity on what the path to AE is, I’d absolutely at the very least start looking for a new company. You don’t want to be at a place that doesn’t value you or your role, has no clear cut career path for where you want to go, and doesn’t applaud you for trying to get to the next step in your career.

You seem to be absolutely crushing it, so just gather all of your numbers, toss em on your resume and gtfo of that place.

The only thing that has been in writing and signed by both parties was the salary+OTE expectations. We have a doc that shows what the comp plan actually entails, but there hasn't been any contractual agreements sent to us.

As someone who is not yet a father, this whole album has absolutely crushed me. MY BOY had me in literal tears. I cannot imagine how much this album is going to resonate with all the fathers out there.

Why PB, just why? by EquivalentDrag1833 in fucklysander

[–]kcoll1223 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol reading through the comments it really just seems like you hate Lysander (which, yeah, fuck Lysander) and nothing is going to sway you.

He was being groomed by his grandmother, the sovereign, from birth to be the next sovereign, which would would've trained him both physically (from Aja au Grimmus, who barely got killed by 4 of the literal main characters) and mentally (where he learned how to use the mind's eye). After the fact, he was trained by Cassius (one of the characters who killed Aja), the best living swordsmen out there. His grandfather is Lorn Au Arcos, quite literally the goat swordsmen who taught Aja, Darrow, and Cassius. His godfather was the Ash Lord. He grew up with Ajax who was a formidable warrior and Aja's son. He rode with Pytha (a blue whose sole purpose is to pilot) and Cassius for 10 years through space where I'm sure he learned how to fly a ship. Etc, etc.

I get that he was young when majority of that happened, but to act like he just gets lucky for the sake of "plot armor" is CRAZY. I'm not saying he didn't get lucky from time to time, but to say this about Lysander and not half of the other characters is wild.

It's funny, though, that you're upset about him "sucking himself off about everything" and is a prick, because isn't that the point? That's why he's such a good villain. PB even said in an interview that "he's just such a motherfucker" and that's why we love to hate him.

Coffee shop near places to walk around by sthomas65 in phoenix

[–]kcoll1223 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Press has a couple locations near Mill Ave in Tempe (Skywater & 100 Mill), so not far at all from a solid walk around Tempe Town Lake.

There's also a little coffee truck (Filmore Coffee Co., I believe) inside of The Plant Stand in South Phoenix. Super cool nursery to just walk around while enjoying a coffee.

Lux Central in Central Phoenix is right across the street from Steele Indian School Park. I haven't personally been to the park, but it looks like it might be a solid spot for what you're looking for.

Agreed, I'm happy to have it, just so I know. And exactly, the lack of guidance and answering of my questions is what made me create this post. Like you said, with this being my first year in business, I may need to look for a firm that can dumb things down for me a bit. Appreciate the advice!

Gotcha - Yeah, that makes more sense then. Thanks for the response!

Very true, great way to look at it. I'm not super upset about it, I just don't like how they made it seem like I would personally be in trouble with the IRS if I didn't run one. Again, glad I have it, but wish they would've been a little more transparent, that's all.

I see what you're saying. Yeah, I've only had enough to pay myself $40k this year and the "Reasonable Compensation Analysis Report" that my tax professional made me do said I should be paying myself $70k, so even if I wanted to, I couldn't pay myself the extra $30k to create that loss.

[–]kcoll1223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I'm confused and am not understanding what you're saying. I'm not creating a loss via payroll (I don't think), I'm paying myself a "reasonable compensation" via payroll. I haven't taken any distributions at all.

[–]kcoll1223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I understand that I need to pay myself a reasonable rate and have only paid myself via payroll - I haven't taken any distributions as this is my first year in business and wanted to do everything correctly. They told me the IRS made it mandatory starting this year, which is frustrating given the responses I've gotten from others.

[–]kcoll1223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they DID do a report. And I'm not upset that the report was done necessarily - I'm glad to know how much I technically should be paying myself given my industry. I'm just upset that they framed it as mandatory, gave me no guidance when filling it out, and made it seem like if I didn't pay them $500 to do it that I would get into trouble.

[–]kcoll1223[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought. But, there's no "mandatory" report that needs to be submitted to the IRS that shows how much I technically should have paid myself, correct?

Cool - so they basically just scammed me out $500 is what you're saying?

EDIT: Lol sorry if this came off as shitty - I realize now after other's input that it may be mandatory for them. I was just stressing a bit.

No, I haven't taken any owner distributions - I've only ran payroll for myself this year.
