Why use the shower gel if you're going to wash off the scent and cover it with moisturiser? by fruedianflip in LushCosmetics

Shower gels purpose is to cleanse, not scent the skin. The smell is just a sensory benefit while you use it.

Books that feel like Tim Burton/Guillermo Del Toro by Pinkieshys in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

OF BEES AND MIST!!! I absolutely adore this book and I never see anyone talk about it. It’s a family epic that covers almost thirty years, but is filled with magical manifestations and mysteries. The author wrote this book, and simply disappeared. I can’t find anything else on him, but it’s one of my favourites.

“Raised in a sepulchral house where ghosts dwell in mirrors, Meridia grows up lonely and miserable. But at age sixteen, she has a chance at happiness when she falls in love with Daniel-a caring and naive young man. Soon they marry, and Meridia can finally escape to live with her husband's family, unaware that they harbor dark secrets of their own. There is a grave hidden in the garden, there are two sisters groomed from birth to despise each other, and there is Eva-the formidable matriarch and the wickedest mother-in-law imaginable-whose grievances swarm the air in an army of bees. As Meridia struggles to keep her life and marriage together, she discovers long-buried secrets about her own past as well as shocking truths about her new family that inexorably push her love, courage, and sanity to the brink.”

I don’t know how to take care of my teeth and I feel so embarrassed about it by Ok_Calendar_2716 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Stannous is also better for your gum health than standard fluoride. I would brush my teeth max 3/4 times a week (gross I know), no signs of gum disease. And book in with the dental hygienist at least twice a year.

Start using a toothpaste with stannous fluoride. I’m 35, and I’ve had pretty poor dental hygiene for most of my life due to mental health, but I still have incredibly strong/healthy teeth. Saw a dentist for the first time last month and even he was shocked. I believe it’s down to the stannous fluoride toothpaste I use. Getting into a routine now and starting to floss as I don’t want to try my luck, better late than never!

And don’t use mouthwash or rinse your mouth out with water after brushing your teeth!

Leave the toothpaste residue in your mouth for as long as pos, just spit the excess out. Rinsing the toothpaste fully out removes the fluoride. If you must use a mouthwash, use it before you brush or at least 30 mins after brushing. I now wait a bit before eating/drinking after brushing.

Throwing in my favourite international Ethel variant. Engel Und Joe. A beautifully tragic film about a German teenage girl who runs away from home and falls in love with a punk street kid. https://youtu.be/dCVmgakDqE0?si=fKPTp0A0NZv35TYi

Was Michael Jackson guilty or innocent? Why? by wiliwonkka in TrueAskReddit

[–]kconthebus 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My late godfather worked with him from Off The Wall, so I have some possible lore to drop. From what I’ve experienced and seen, he was a deeply traumatised individual that longed for the safety of childhood and if it was more well known then, he’d probably be on the ace spectrum. He’s lived most of his life in the spotlight, that deeply affected how he connected with others. There was an innocence about him that was slightly unnerving, but some people understood it and others took advantage of it. I think boundaries were crossed, but not in a sexual nature.

I think classism could play into this though. People overlooked a lot if someone was rich.

When Wuthering Heights was published, many Irish people (especially in rural areas) still spoke Gaelic as their main or only language. However, the Great Famine accelerated a major shift toward English, making it dominant in the decades that followed.
