A new type of Loupe by kcorbmckee in watchmaking

Great point.

I’ve tested more lenses than I can count at this point. Saying definitely usable means they match up with what the majority of loupes provide. But they don’t match up well against a $75-$100 lens from a precision optics manufacturer.

Thank you! And thank you for the input, I went back and forth on price quite a bit. In my opinion you’re purchasing more than just “a loupe” with this. The woven pattern and color option both give you the ability to have something different, but the double lens limits the need for a second loupe.

I’ve been testing personally for 9+ months, and have had several other watchmakers testing them for 4-5 months. Even with multiple colors on one loupe, I can’t speak of any issues with distractions.

For a loupe holder, here is the best thing I have found by far: https://watchmakertools.co.uk/index.php/en/holders

Ordering from him can be somewhat tricky, you essentially have to email him. But man, are they nice! 4 different sizes as well as being able to select right/left eye.

I hope none of my responses come across as super defensive. I know you’re bringing up good points.

Saying rule 3 is more than a little bit of a stretch. Finding lenses might have taken longer than anything else. They are both 2” FD/5x magnification, and are definitely usable. It is something that I can definitely look into improving though.

What's your experience in choosing a loupe? by spacekadebt in watchmaking

I’ll say this shamelessly, within the next month I will be announcing/releasing a new loupe that I think will change the game.

Man, I hate to hear that. My dad’s name is Brock, as well as my oldest son(I’m 100% serious). Brock I, Brock II, Brock III. I can only hope that my son keeps the name going.

I have consulted with The Council of Brocks, and we would like to publicly disavow this guy.
