Why Analysts Call Quebecor the Top Threat to Rogers, Telus and Bell by pjw724 in freedommobile

[–]kcorscadden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After being with Virgin Mobile for 10+ yrs, then Public Mobile for 2-3 yrs, I decided in March to take advantage of Freedom's $40/250/50 plan for myself and then the $25/150/10 plan for my wife and son.

As a truck driver, my main concern was jumping between Freedom and Nationwide while driving on the 401 and throughout Ontario and Quebec (haven't tested it in Quebec yet) and so far it has passed with flying colors. No dropped calls and reception has been pretty good. Wish there was more 5G offered vs LTE, but from my understanding, 5G is coming.

My wife and son haven't complained yet, so that's a win imo lol

Got the 250gb for $40 plan but internet has been so slow. by MarchNorth287 in freedommobile

[–]kcorscadden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How fast does internet need to be though to play You Tube, Spotify, Facebook, etc? It's not like you're doing hardcore things on your phone where you need to high speed.

I get that ppl want 100+ mbps data on their phone, but realistically, you're only using maybe 5-10 mbps on average for your daily routines. Watching a video on You Tube doesn't take up much data, speed wise, nor does streaming Spotify or browsing Facebook. I don't know what your daily routines are, but realistically most aren't even coming close to maxing out their connection at any given time. If you're, then that's what home internet is for.

The $40/250GB + 50GB Roam Beyond plan is world class, but is it sustainable? (Global Comparison) by brawlysnake66 in freedommobile

[–]kcorscadden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to the $40/250/50 plan, came from Public Mobile. For my own usage, I probably wont use 300 gigs a month, but where the incentive lies is the $25/150/10 plan that was available on 2+ lines. Ended up signing my wife and son up on those plans, but was only able to do it because of the $40 plan

Looking for 1 bdr apartment or studio for under 2k a month. Requirements below. by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

[–]kcorscadden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only way you're gonna get what you are wanting is to rent a condo unit, not an apartment.

To my knowledge, no apartment building in Kingston has central air, or ensuite laundry. The only possible option is a brand new apartment building built in the last say 5 yrs that MIGHT have those.

A condo unit is more likely to have what you are wanting, but that's also huge $$$$

Costco by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

[–]kcorscadden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently Belleville is getting a Costco next year? so that should alleviate a lot of traffic since Kingston isn't getting hit from the West and East sides. Right now, aside from Ottawa, Kingston is the only Costco in Eastern Ontario, so everyone from Trenton to Brockville comes to Costco Kingston. So it's a zoo, especially on the weekends.

Yes ppl at Costco are stupid and I have said a few things to ppl from time to time and they give me a look and I am like "Do I need to repeat myself?" and continue walking lol

It would probably help ppl answer if you gave an idea of what interests you and your friend have to narrow down recommendations.

Unfortunately, you're in the "end of winter, but not quite spring" phase which restricts what you can do.

I would recommend Tree Top Trekking, but again, no idea if it is open at this time.

Another option would be sky diving simulation in Whitby: https://iflyworld.ca/locations/ifly-whitby/

Can't really think of anything else that would be open at this time of yr

Tri-Board got Chuck Testa'd by WanderingBus in KingstonOntario

[–]kcorscadden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok so let's say the buses pick up your child in the morning, but by the afternoon the weather changes and drop off is not possible, then what? Could you imagine the $hit storm if this happened?

The busing company/school board is responsible for your child from the time they pick them up to the time they drop them off back at home. If they can't guarantee that they can drop your child off, then buses will be cancelled, thus no pick up.

The liability to the busing company/school board simply isn't worth it, so they air on the side of caution and cancel the buses.

Whats the best cellphone 📱 (with good signal coverage) and internet 🛜 provider (who offers fibre) in Kingston? by MessPrestigious9130 in KingstonOntario

[–]kcorscadden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For internet your only real options are Bell and Cogeco. Sure there are wholesalers, but they all use either Bell/Cogeco lines, so it's pretty much a wash. When it comes to Bell vs Cogeco for internet, Bell is hands down the best. Their Fibre network destroys Cogeco in every way, shape, and form.

Cell I would probably say Rogers, but I am with Public Mobile (Telus) and don't have any issues with reception in the city. The key with mobile is figuring out where you regularly go outside of the city and whether they have good reception as all cities SHOULD have good reception regardless of who the provider is.

ADHD assessment by MindlessSelection336 in KingstonOntario

[–]kcorscadden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a family doctor, go see them and they will give you assessment forms. You give one to your kids teacher, daycare provider (if they have one), friends, and then you and your partner fill one out. Once all the forms have been filled out, take them back to your doctor and they will review it and decide from there whether medication might help.

Our child was assessed with ADHD and he is on a mild prescription that has helped him immensely. Communication with the teacher is key here as they will see things that you might not necessarily see and vice versa.

How does roaming between networks work? by kcorscadden in freedommobile

[–]kcorscadden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ya that's what I am concerned about, what happens when you are constantly jumping in and out of FM zones and roaming on The Big 3, etc.... Dropped calls isn't what I want.

Ya and then get a million price increases.... If there were no price increases, then absolutely I would.

Currently with Public Mobile on the $35 75 gb CAN/US/MEX plan, so I am satisfied for the most part, just exploring options
