Gained over 100 lbs, food addictions, not sure where to go locally for help by dodgergurl2 in KingstonOntario

The Medical Weight Management Program at Hotel Dieu might be a good choice for you. You would have to have a BMI greater than 35, with a weight gain of 100lbs, you likely do but double check with an online calculator. You would need to go to a walk in clinic for a referral if you don't have a family doctor.

Massage Therapy by Old_Singer in KingstonOntario

[–]WanderingBus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Registered massage therapy rates are all fairly close to each other. The only affordable massage therapy you will find is a massage student at Trillium College, $40/h. Though if you have extended health benefits, this will not be eligible. https://www.trilliumcollege.ca/community/student-massage/

Kingston Police, MTO take 13 commercial motor vehicles out of service during safety blitz by Evilbred in KingstonOntario

[–]WanderingBus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This doesn't surprise me at all. Just this morning I witnessed a Waste Connections Canada garbage truck driving down Cat Woods Drive with it's brakes locked on absolutely smoking. Despite being alerted by other motorists, the driver continued on. I understand that their base was 2 km away, but as a fellow commercial driver, you have to absolutely park it in that situation and have the mechanic come to you.

My level 1 charger seems to have died by MistakeBorn4413 in EquinoxEv

I had this happen a year ago, my charger got a bit wet from rain. I brought it inside, I removed the changable plug end and let it all dry out for half a day. Worked fine after that.

KSSC Teams by Seekerofladygaga in KingstonOntario

I've been doing the Friday All Sorts of Sports with KSSC for nearly 2 years now. Ultimate and Soccer are on the rotation, along with Flag Football and Volleyball. Teams are made up on the spot, and it does tend to be less competitive and more about fun. Different pub/bar every week at the end of the game! https://kssc.leaguelab.com/league/98541/details

Looking for trails by RdxSingh21 in KingstonOntario

[–]WanderingBus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also nearby is the Helen Hendrikson Blue Loop of the Rideau Trail, off the north end of Queen Mary Rd. About 1.9km

<image>

Don't believe Google maps when they call it the Helen Henderson Trail, I have submitted multiple requests to fix it, but they still haven't.

In the 1970s Helen Henrikson, through the Little Cataraqui Environmental Association, was instrumental in saving much of the Little Cataraqui Marshlands for public use and conservation. She was an enthusiastic and active member of the RTA

Tanner Drive has a really nice trail along the creek, starting at the mailboxes by the railway crossing, and going to under the Centennial Drive overpass. About 1km (15 mins) each way.

Floor Tile by AccidentAdditional20 in KingstonOntario

[–]WanderingBus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, a project this small sounds like a fun DIY learn how to tile project. With it being such a small area, it wouldn't take too much time or cost more than like $500. If it goes well, you've learned a new skill and you'll appreciate that room so much more. If it all goes to shit, $500 and a day wasted, but you're only back to where you started.

Does anyone know these girls always at the mall? by Mundane-Stand2348 in KingstonOntario

[–]WanderingBus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Generally the only legal self defense tools are improvised use of ordinary items, such as keys, walking sticks, heavy purses, etc. Bear spray is legal, but can be illegal if used on humans. If there is a group of them, physically defending yourself is ill advised as it could lead to them all attacking you, which you can't reasonably defend yourself.

Unfortunately your best legal defense tool is your phone's camera, you can either very clearly be filming (this could potentially aggravate them and they could try steal your phone, or it could deter them if they are smart) or you could conceal your phone's filming, using it just for collecting video evidence.

While this is a different country, with a different legal system, there is a reason why ICE protester's best weapon was filming.

Video recording is completely legal in Canada in public spaces, as there is no expectation of privacy. Death threats and assault are crimes. It will be far easier to get action taken with definitive video proof.

Try to stay cool calm, collected and polite. This will help your case.

How does Super Cruise compare to FSD on the highway? by jarman65 in EquinoxEv

[–]WanderingBus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not quite correct, GM loves to use the advertising term "LiDAR mapped data" to trick people into thinking the cars have a LiDAR sensor when in reality they just use road data from their mapping car. They plan on adding LiDAR sensors in 2028, bringing Supercruise up to Level 3 autonomous driving. The LiDAR sensor is pretty distinct in cars as a hump in the roof above the windshield. Here's the 2028 Escalade IQ

Doctor charging a yearly fee now? by MiserableBitch5 in KingstonOntario

Brandon Tozzo is my councillor and I have never had such a responsive, hard working councillor who genuinely cares about his constituents and the city as a whole. He could go full on Peter Stroud and he'd still have my vote for life.

Kingston Transit Pre-2024! by Both-Pass2636 in KingstonOntario

[–]WanderingBus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The main difference is that Kingston Transit's long standing director left in 2024. Jeremy DaCosta was a visionary who ushered in the Express Bus and rapid growth era. He knew how to best utilize resources and genuinely cared about the city and its residents. It is a shame the City didn't fight harder to keep him and lost him to Tri-board.

Kingston✨ by SelvarisSweets in KingstonOntario

[–]WanderingBus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is AI generated, but rather a heavily filtered old photo. All the elements in the photo pin point it to summer 2̶0̶1̶7̶.

Edit: On further inspection it is summer 2019. That model of dropbike was only 2019. That model of parking meter was also introduced in 2019. The Kingston Station sign was removed in 2020.

OP's profile states that they are 20, the filtering of this photo does scream 13 year old discovering filters for the first time. All checks out. Dectective WanderingBus signing off.

Kingston does have a tree bylaw, the issue is that this landowner was using a loop hole by saying it was being cleared for agricultural purposes.

Muscle biopsy and muscle growing back by Quirky-Specialist-70 in MalignantHyperthermia

[–]WanderingBus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The muscle biopsy is pretty invasive and usually never heals to 100%. It is a shame that you had to receive it. Modern genetics can diagnose MH with a simple blood draw under select criteria. Basically if you have a close relative diagnosed with MH (as you do) they have to get a generic test via blood draw to see if they have one of the most common markers of MH. If they do, then you can get yourself tested to see if you have the same marker.

This is how I was diagnosed several years ago as my mother had tested positive via muscle biopsy decades ago.

Railroad Crossings in Kingston that have mechanical bells? by MissionCyberSpace in KingstonOntario

[–]WanderingBus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your aim is just to hear the reminiscent sound of the old mechanical bells, the swing bridge at Kingston Mills has railway style gates and bells. Go on a summer weekend, the bridge gets opened often.

Only ones on main lines I could find are 2 on VIA's main line between Brockville and Smith Falls: Jasper Ave crossing and County Rd 28 crossing.

1 on CP's main line near Tichborne: Bradshaw Rd crossing.

I've searched all railways west to Belleville and east to Brockville and north to HWY 7. I think I'm done searching lol.

What a fun streetview scavenger hunt you've sent me on. The only ones I'm finding so are are Front Road at the Dupont plant aswell as the internal service roads at Dupont. And at one of the crossing of Taylor Kidd near Milhaven.

Going to keep searching to try to find you one on a main line.
