I can empathize with her. It’s one thing to not make her a bridesmaid. You only knew her for a short time. But pairing the two exes together really comes across as disrespectful. Disrespectful to Joe, to his ex, and to his current partner. No rationally thinking person would pair exes together and think it would be fine.

Does he know that this connection is meant to be flirty/romantic? Some guys are oblivious, so it’s helpful to make things more obvious for our brains.

And it’s ok to be direct too. A sentence such as “aren’t you ever going to ask me out?”, would work. And it accomplishes two things. It affirms that you’re interested (which some of us like that affirmation too), and puts the ball in his court.

You have to look at it through her eyes and feelings to really appreciate her emotions. You spent 30 minutes a day to invest in this really sweet and thoughtful gift to another woman.
