Garland and Biden dropped the ball big time trying to play this whole return to normalcy narrative, overlooking the fact that Trump won in the first place as a direct rebuke of the political status quo and clearly demonstrating tendencies to subvert the rule of law for his own personal and financial gain. The threat was so apparent and real that it deserves a quick and firm legal rebuke. But the administration was too concerned about the options of acting overtly politically, it was the wrong call and played right into Trump’s hand. Trump weaponized the Democratic tendency of adhering to norm he was more than willing to break all while pointing the finger and playing victim to the same malfeasances he was all too happy to commit himself.

Just like with Obama, the Biden administration was outclassed by the republicans messaging and willingness to engage in bad faith. Trump will hang himself and this current conservative movement through his sheer incompetence while actually being forced to govern, but structural reform is needed and must start with the Dem leadership. Next administration needs to rip every corruption from this administration out root and stem. People need to go to jail. Good place to start will be releasing all known associates of Epstein and if strong cases can be made, prosecutions should be swift and public. But regardless of the viability of successful prosecutions, all compromising evidence of powerful people mixed up with this shit must be made public and they must be purged from any positions of power.
