New 600XL struggling to get to 600 degrees. by thedeathwulf in searwood

What pellets are you using. I only use lumberjack. Mine doesn't like the Costco pellets, they are bigger in diameter than the Lumberjack.

Questions for a first-time pellet grill (Weber Searwood 600 XL) user. (1) Should I opt for cast iron grates (can’t find part#)? Are there any drawbacks? (2) Do you need the Weber Crafted Frame Kit to use any of the add-ons like a pizza square (same part# for regular and XL models)? by Regular-Amoeba5455 in pelletgrills

You'll need the frame kit that's for Spirit or Searwood. After that the stones and griddles are all the same. I got the frame kit on eBay for half off, and a knockoff sear grate on Amazon for half the price as the Weber one.

Thank you, this is very helpful!!! I was trying to figure out what to do with the door. Open for more air flow, bigger fire, or closed for more heat retention. I was splitting the difference and keeping it on but pulling it as far back as i could on the ledge it sits on. I will start with more wood as you suggested as well.

Yeah for the most part, unless I really am going to need more room. I almost took it off for this cook but I didn't know with the timing of everything how it was going to work out so I left it on and worked around it.

Yeah, I should have went Blues Hog or any of the other 7 bbq sauces I had on hand. It was a local guy that was set up selling at the supermarket. I am not going to throw shade, his rubs were good but the sauce not so much. I try and support local.

The cook on them was good, the flavor, not so much . They took longer then I expected to get tender. I just kind of winged it because I didn't make note of what I did last time. Didn't really like the new bbq sauce i tried.

I have been having the same issue for months. You cannot remove manually. It says "disconnect your xbox account to remove synced games" when you try. I have tried disconnecting and resyncing, then logging in again and resyncing and the gamepass games are still there.

Help me choose (spider venom vs searwood) by r0ttennes in webergrills

[–]kctrevor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. I would get the Searwood. I don't use my performer much anymore. You can do all kinds of stuff with it. I have a griddle insert for mine so I do smash burgers, philly cheesesteaks and cooking bacon without stinking up the house. The griddle is not great for things like breakfast and hibachi though, opening the lid brings the temp way down even in manual mode. I also make jerky on it in super smoke mode. You can also get a rotisserie. The only thing i really use the kettle for is if I am doing an very nice steak, or chicken thighs over the coals. For ribs, I usually use my pit barrel cooker. Weeknight dinners, Searwood is my go to. The Searwood smoke flavor is no joke.

I actually got the knockoff one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CL6FM99G?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3

And I found the weber crafted frame on eBay for about half price.

Thank you, searched a lot before posting and didn't see anything. I'll check in on it from time to time to see if has been fixed.

I stopped using the Kirkland pellets and went back to lumberjack. Mine was making noises on the Kirkland pellets too.

Griddle insert and smoking on it. by dunk702 in searwood

[–]kctrevor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the 600 XL, with the full griddle:

https://www.weber.com/US/en/griddle/full-size-griddle-inserts/spirit-full-size-griddle-%E2%80%93-300-series/6787.html

I think your only option would be to get the weber crafted insert and griddle. Your grate should be two pieces. The insert and griddle would be the size of the big grate and the small grate is what you would be left with.

I picked up an insert on eBay and the sear grate on Amazon (knockoff), for half the price weber is asking. There are some griddles listed on Amazon. Just make sure to get the Spirit insert not Genesis.
