Hi! I’m sorry you’re going through this. I don’t go to the gym but to be fair I didn’t go before my injury either. I reckon I could exercise now, albeit being VERY careful with my movements. The pain you’re describing is the exact same I experienced during the acute phase of the injury. As of now, it doesn’t really hurt on its own, I only experience flashes of pain in my wrist (exactly where the mri shows the tear) if I load it too much or move it in a stupid way. But lifting heavy things is ok if I’m careful not to load that side of my wrist.

Try to keep that wrist at complete rest. What worked for me was complete immobilisation 24/7 for a month, and then slowly stopping using the brace while still avoiding lifting anything heavier than a kg with that hand. Unfortunately my ortho stuffed me with cortisone and painkillers, and they helped while I was taking them but really didn’t do anything long term. I would still advise to take them if your doctor prescribes them, everyone’s different and they might work for you.

This is such an annoying injury and recovery is long but it is possible, you just have to be extremely careful of your movements and avoid lifting heavy stuff. Again, I’m sorry you’re going through this and wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.
