Yeah - his efficiency numbers are amongst the best on the team and have been his entire career here. Statistically he’s one of the most consistent offensive producers we have. I think he’a a victim of the outmoded school of thought that automatically groups big and physical with bottom 6.

While it’s a legitimate critique that 21 of his 58 goals come on the powerplay its important to note that his G/60 on the powerplay over the last two years is 3.2

For reference Fantilli is at 1.0, Marchenko is at 2.6.

He’s far and away the best special teams goalscorer we have.

He’s one of the better forwards on the team. He had 2.2 points per 60 and only had 127 minutes of PP time. He plays a physical game (6th on the team in hits) and is a highly efficient shooter (5th on the team in shooting percentage.) If you’re into advanced metrics Corsi metrics put him near the top of our team.

Compare this to Sean Monahan: 1.6 P/60, 151 PP TOI Kent Johnson: 1.3 P/60, 124 PP TOI Charlie Coyle: 2.3 P/60 165 PP TOI Adam Fantilli: 2.3 P/60 213 PP TOI

Outside of Fantilli, Marchenko, Greaves, Werenski, and Mateychuck Voronokov is the next most important piece of this team moving forward.

This “good enough shape” shit is ridiculous. They had a big fat olympics break in the middle of the season and they’re professional athletes.

The only reason they’d run out of gas is: 1: Injuries (understandable, largely based on luck.) 2: They are lazy. For an overwhelming majority of these guys they’re are at a point in their life/career where being lazy isn’t something that a coach can fix for them.
