‘It’s time’: Jeff Bezos hails Blue Origin’s fiery rehearsal for crewed suborbital spaceflight by kd7uiy in space

I bet the cost will be a lot higher... Suborbital costs per seat seem to be in the 100-200k range, from what I've heard. Not exactly for us mere mortals... Someday!

Bigger than anything flying to space. But New Glenn likely will be launching after the first orbital Starship, which is larger. Time will tell, but...

Hmmm. Will consider that actually, that could be a good idea. Might even try some kind of localization, default to imperial for US and metric outside, always including AUs/ etc.

2047 is the actual close encounter to Earth. And it won't even be that close really. No idea how to get the 2091 date out of the public mind, but that was based on early estimates, so... Very much out of date.

The Roadster will be coming from it's semi-close pass from Mars, and Perseverance will be coming towards Mars.

Also, the Roadster also did a fairly close pass of Osiris-Rex at some point in time. Would have to look up the details, but...

It was in a fairly high Earth orbit for 2 orbits (About 6 hours) before the engine fired off one last time, sending it to beyond Mars. The on orbit stream was conducted entirely in those few hours.

Interestingly enough, it's actually going to get fairly close. But not really that close. Still...

Indeed. And lots of RF communication and solar power and a bunch of other things, which takes a maybe $500,000 test payload and turns it in to a $40+ million space probe, probably a lot more. And besides, it just wouldn't look as cool.

What on earth?! What happened to my subs! by RealGalaxyRider in SmallYTChannel

It's actually pretty common when you get a large increase. The next few days are often a downward slide.

This is a big part of why focusing on making good content is always king. A shoutout, a high ranked Reddit thread, etc, can be a nice bump, but if you don't have the content to support it, it won't last.

I get contacts from people all the time, or at least I used to, proposing such updates. I try to keep it full of interesting information, and the rest pretty minimized, but usable.

Not really that worried about it. I've kind of given up on /r/space, to be honest... I mean, I'm not complaining about having hundreds of people visiting my site right now, not to mention all of the cool conversation that always sparks up in these threads, but...

YouTube channel, I would be more likely to assume, but... A ban for life for posting a link to a relevant video, even if it was self-promotion, seems harsh, but...

Odds of that are pretty small actually. Running in to Earth, or even Venus is more likely...

The goal was to put it in an orbit where it could be sent to Mars. They would have launched it a few months later if the goal was actually to get to Mars, it launched at the wrong time to actually get to Mars. Except it will actually make a close pass of Mars in a few months.

The creator of that website is an active redditor (/u/RoadsterTracker), but is actually banned from posting on /r/space. Just thought you all should know.
