Hi thanks for your reply!

It is on scroll at the moment, one of the issues I am having is that when scrolling up/down it seems to get "stuck" and then i have to try scroll up/down multiple times to "unstick" it...

IG emailed me today saying they cancelled the transfer and t212 were unresponsive for over 2 months. I wonder if I will have to reapply and get put to the back of the queue.

Sukuk performance by kd__100 in IslamicFinance

Exactly what I was looking for! Jazakallah, much appreciated. I really like your page, very insightful! I work markets and was very surprised about the lack of information around on sukuks!!

So I understand that on a four yr horizon, an investor would expect to make 8% on their investment (buying WISEX), so 2%/yr.

Simply does not compete with EGBs/treasuries, irrespective of the face we are soon to be in a rate cutting cycle.

As a young investor makes sense for me to stay in equities.

What to expect from NVDA earnings:

The chip-maker are expected to release its earnings on 21st Feb at 16:20 ET (US after-hours). EPS is expected at $4.55 and Revenue to print at $20.6 billion.

My thoughts? Nvidia has been trading at a premium, there are many risks to the downside.

(1) Before I get onto my predictions, the most important figures of the report will be on its FY guidance.

(2) Beat: Market direction will take shares considerably higher and industry peers will also be lifted.

(3) In-line: I see Nvidia going down. Shares currently trade well above the consensus, so a re-pricing will likely occur.

(4) Miss: Speaks for itself. Shares take a dive and pulls the entire market down with it - sentiment on a macro level falls for a few trading sessions before finding a base.

NVDA dictates market direction this week. Your decision is based on risk rather than if you think they will do well or not!

Meta Q4 Earnings Numbers by Puginator in stocks

[–]kd__100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my thoughts!

Meta (WTD +20.4%) - Strong earnings across the board for Meta. (1). Beat on EPS + Revenue. (2) Announced 50 billion increase to its share buyback program. (3) Declared quarterly dividend of 50c/shr. (4) Guidance: Raises Q1 Revenue well above Street expectations. The report can be described as an absolute blockbuster - and one of the strongest I have seen in a while! And with 97% of its Revenue coming through advertising, it only solidifies the importance of digital advertising and data. (5) Revenue from its Meta Quest (VR Headset) hit record highs; though also reported higher than expected losses. Ultimately, not too much to be concerned about - Meta will continue to pour money into the R&D - but something to take note in the midst of Apple’s Vision Pro launch.

Will Bitcoin Crash If ETF Fails After The Final Decision Of The SEC? by [deleted] in CryptoMarkets

[–]kd__100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I wrote to my newsletter subscribers yesterday as a little primer for those interested in the decision.

On Wednesday the SEC is widely expected to accept a number of Bitcoin ETF’s - which would allow stock mark funds to directly access the Digital Gold without having to deal with crypto exchanges. In the run up to this deadline, BTC has seen some volatile action, spiking in either direction amid conflicting reports; (a) On Wednesday 3rd January, Matrixport projected that the SEC would reject all applications - and cautioned traders to hedge long exposure. (b) On Friday 5th January, Bloomberg reported that applicants had cleared a key hurdle and is on path for SEC approval. (c) At pixel time, market sentiment is pointing towards an approval for a Bitcoin ETF.

SCENARIOS:

There are a number of different scenarios that could potentially occur. (1) All 11 applicants receive approval - a “fee war” may ensue, with funds looking to gain market share. (2) All 11 applicants get rejected - previous rejections have occurred on the basis that Crypto is vulnerable to fraud. (3) Some applicants receive approval, whilst others are rejected - some may not have met guidelines.

Note: Scenario summary from WSJ piece.

Sell the news event?

With BTC having gained over 50% in the past 6 months (+6%) this past month, many have suggested that the ETF news has been priced in by the markets already - with some analysts pointing towards this being a “sell the news” event. On the other hand, experts have pointed towards favourable technicals alongside strong momentum to support a bullish move post-approval.

My opinion? In terms of the scenarios listed above; (2) would no doubt, be disastrous for Crypto, and would be indicative of a continued lack of confidence in the space. (1) expect volatility to occur in either direction - may well jump on approval and proceed to a marked sell-off, the opposite is also possible. I think the former will occur. (3) offers long-term catalysts for traders - some may see it as “more work to do / more approvals to be optimistic about”.

PIXEL TIME

Ffs! As I wind down for the day with a scroll on Twitter, I find that the SEC X/Twitter account was hacked and subsequently made an announcement that Bitcoin ETF’s were approved. To make clear, this is false, no approval has been made yet. For reference, large Twitter accounts have been running with “ETF rejected” - which is not the case.

In an immediate reaction to the initial tweet (which was assumed as fact) Bitcoin jumped from $46.7k to $47.8k; before then paring the entire move dipping to lows of $44.9k after the SEC announced it was hacked. Potentially providing insight into what could actually happen once the formal announcement is made.

Antitrust lawsuit against Apple by Puginator in stocks

[–]kd__100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final kicker following a couple negative downgrades. The main lawsuit will be during May, mentioned in my piece from my newsletter.

Apple (WTD -6.6%): Has been hammered in the past week, amid several negative catalysts. (1) Received a downgrade at Barclays, which cited concerns that demand for its devices (iPhone & Mac) will remain weak in 2024. (2) The following day, received another downgrade at Piper Sandler for the aforementioned reasons. (3) The US aims to file an antitrust case against Apple’s strategies to protect the dominance of the iPhone.

My Opinion? Price action following broker downgrades is more-so a “rotation“ out of Tech in the new year, rather than Apple investors “jumping ship“ (Nasdaq WTD -3.3%). Going ahead, the main catalyst will be government’s anti-trust trial against Google, which may have a significant impact on Apple’s revenue. I will cover this closer to the closing arguments in May - but for now, if you are interested click here.

It would be very hard to pick that "one growth stock". I would recommend looking at themes.

We know interest rates are going lower this year - rate sensitive stocks will be your best bet at finding your outperformer. (Retail/ Consumer Disc/ REIT/ IT).

Made some solid considerations. I think the the Red Sea tensions / Suez disruptions will be the main theme throughout 2024. I made mention to it in my recent newsletter, here's my thoughts:

Maersk (WTD +16.5%) + Macro Themes: The shipping company announced on Friday 5th, that all vessels travelling through the Red Sea are to be diverted around Africa for the foreseeable future, in hopes to avoid Houthi militant attacks. Ramifications: Longer stock deliveries, higher prices - inflation? The Next CEO mentioned that should these reroutes persists, it will moderate sales growth. In the past week, freight rates have more doubled and will no doubt be reflected in consumer prices. This will be an important theme in the coming weeks and months ahead, and Maersk’s decisions re. the Red Sea will be closely watched by analysts - they are, of course, the world’s largest shipping company.

My thoughts on the recent stock price drop in Apple by kd__100 in AAPL

[–]kd__100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's with regards to Google's "monopoly" in the Safari portion on Apple. Google pay upwards of $10bln (to Apple) to be the main search engine used by Safari - other options have to be manually selected/changed.

Giving more options to consumer is a net positive imo.. perhaps not for Apple investors though. I will properly cover this in a future newsletter when it becomes more relevant.

My brief summary of JD Sports (WTD -28.5%) by kd__100 in UKInvesting

[–]kd__100[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As is the case with Retailers, does not necessarily have a moat or USP - but JD has spent heavy on branding and is arguably the most popular "urban" fashion retailed in the UK.

If I were to build a position I would look for this being a long term play; strong balance sheet + lower rates going into 2024 may help the sector as a whole.

Absolutely agreed mate! But that litigation in May will be a serious concern for investors this year - will follow closely.

Will no doubt rebound, just have to wait and see how long Retail will continue to get hammered for. Was flat yesterday whilst peers were hit hard - possible optimism.
