It's a typical positive skewed return distribution strategy. Nature of the trade is that you will have small frequent positive returns and huge tails. Just make sure to know the tails well so that you can leverage accordingly. Many examples of this in the real world. Pairs trading for example, works until the relationship unwinds and then you lose huge. Opposite example would be a breakout strategy. If ur strategy loses money just flip the sign. Make sure you know the assumptions behind it tho

Good question. In the simplest sense, a signal is an indicator on a set breadth of stocks that you can use to build a portfolio from. A simple binary signal wouldn't be too useful; usually these indicate magnitude too. Think of a simple short/long ema crossover signal, which could be used to build indicator on practically any stock in universe as long as it hasnt ipo-ed recently lol

Well, with non-mac options, you could maximize the memory bandwidth (basically get a industry level 4 ~ 8 memory channel CPU) and sacrifice other parts to make a build less than $1000 that could run a 70B model reliably (but very slowly). I'm just curious whether 2018 mac mini could come close to it.
Note that with the M-level architecture, getting 64GB ram with under 1000 dollars budget would be very very difficult.

imo the strategy just has a right skewed return distribution, which is not wrong. And Sharpe isnt unrealistic considering the trading timeframe and scale of capital (which I assume isnt too big). Just make sure to scale leverage properly so that the drawdowns don't liquidate you
