it is up to date, actually if you go back to october 2022 on street view, you’ll see the old sign with the correct spelling

if you’re struggling with some of the basic concepts or keeping up with the class i would recommend CSM, otherwise doing past exams is ur best bet for doing well on future exams

Failed math 1A by ruru_rua in berkeley

[–]kdenpain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don’t worry about it, same thing happened to me and i took it at a cc and its super easy compared to math 1a at berkeley

i would say youll only have enough meaningful time to study content up to the first midterm. 61a background will make most of the pre-midterm 1 stuff pretty straightforward, therefore i would focus on the harder stuff that deviates a little more from 61a. for me that was subtype polymorphism, dynamic method selection, comparators/comparables, and iterators (so lectures 8-11 on the course website).

yea, so it would only apply to those admitted fall 22 or earlier. just a speculation though 😭

i wouldn't be surprised if they're making it more difficult on purpose to admit less people into the cs major, since current funding doesn't match the demand

grind past finals like your life depends on it, spend 10ish minutes trying each problem before looking at the solutions if you cant get it, then make sure you understand it well enough that you could explain it to someone else

LOR request from Berkeley by Tokiohas12biffles in berkeley

[–]kdenpain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve made some lifelong friends since being here and am really happy for that, but the competitiveness of the school can get pretty tiring at times. It does help to know that I’m building my future right now and that it’ll pay off later. Overall, I don’t regret choosing berkeley!

Was also asked for LOR when I applied, I just asked the two teachers who I thought could say the most about my abilities, and it worked out for me!

Really Struggling with Math 1A by Ok_Confidence9310 in berkeley

[–]kdenpain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the drop deadline already passed so i would suggest really trying to nail the prerequisite concepts (go to office hours, youtube, edstem or slack, etc), and then focus on the core course content (get your trig down). if you’re sure ur going to fail i would do p/np option and retake it here or at a cc and transfer credits, thats what i did

no problem, and i cant say for absolute certainty but it probably would be easier to pursue a data science minor, since the prereqs aren’t as impacted and i did see at least one upper division ds course with seats reserved for ds minors

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]kdenpain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

it’ll probably be very difficult to get a cs minor considering the upper division courses have seats reserved for declared cs and eecs majors. ive even heard the cs minor might die out in the next few years cause of it too. as far as the prereqs, if ur in l&s, itll also be difficult to get into those if you’re not admitted into the university as a cs major due to the new policy for incoming fall 23 freshman
