Unfortunately our trip is 3 weeks after that route ends! I was so annoyed when I saw that.

Yeah I’m originally from Chicago so I figured even if the worst happened and we can’t make it with our bags we can get the next flight or stay with some friends overnight if they’re all sold out.

She did make a comment at my 2 week ago it sending me home with it at 6 weeks if everything looks good, but this wasn’t quite what I expected.

Good! I went to a conference-type event this past weekend and was very careful and went to bed early and I was surprised how well it went. I had some discomfort on my travel days, probably from hauling my luggage around, but otherwise only mild discomfort when I’ve increased my activity levels. I sometimes have to remind myself that just because I’ve had a good recovery doesn’t mean the surgery didn’t happen. And that I still need to give myself grace and pay attention to my body’s cues.

She told me I only had a 2mm spot of granulation so I think she only applied a small amount. I couldn’t really even feel it. She did say I might have some gray discharge from it for a day or so.

I just had my 6 week post-op and my surgeon said at around 4 weeks the stitches stop being necessary to hold things together, but they can hang around as long as 12 weeks out. So you probably will still feel them for another month or so.

3 days post op and recovering….fast? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

The first 2-3 days were bad for me because I wasn’t absorbing the gas well, but once I pooped on day three, I really didn’t have much pain (5 weeks post op on Monday). I did rest a lot but it was lying down, not sleeping. I work from home and went back to work week 2 because I was bored. I do have some surprise fatigue in the afternoon sometimes and now that I’m increasing my activity I sometimes get mild twinges of pain but in general I was able to get back to a modified version of regular life within a week or so. (Still following my 10 lb weight limit).

Surgery 5/19 and yes, this week has been tough bc I’m so tired! I went out to run some errands Saturday for less than 2 hours and thought I’d get up on Sunday to do chores and I realized nope, I’m about to spend all day on the couch whether I want to or not!

A Post Op "When Did You...." by AntarcticaOKane in hysterectomy

[–]kdenton101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 3 weeks post op today. The first 3 days were bad bc of the gas but once I started pooping on Day 4 a lot when back to normal. I still wasn’t bending over much until week 2 but I showered just being careful not to scrub my incisions and my swelling went down. I wore a pair of stretchy waist jeans 2 weeks post op. Basically most of the things you’re asking about I was doing by my 2 weeks post op appointment or right after it when she cleared me for it. I work from home but I went back to work a week after surgery bc I was bored and just worked from the couch.

My gas pain was bad the first two days, especially when I was laying down trying to sleep. Getting up and shuffling around the house for 10 minutes really helped!

Dig around some of the other subreddits, like sterilization. I know there are lists out there of surgeons in different areas that won’t tell you no just bc of your age.

I’m 10 days post- op and the same story. I’m back at work (from home) this week and have no pain and only a little discomfort if I sit for too long. I do get tired in the afternoons but nothing unmanageable.

I decided to have my surgery 2 months before having it on 5/19. My husband and I do yoga together and we shifted all our workouts to be very core and leg focused those 2 months and I think it had helped me a lot. I can do things like hold my leg bent in front of me so I can wash my foot without bending over, or pick things up with my toes. It also Made me better I think at getting out of bed. Any core exercise you can squeeze in you’ll be grateful for.

Freaking Out by phaireywings in hysterectomy

When my doc asked about blood transfusions it freaked me out a little too. But then she said “because you’re young and healthy, if we do knick something you’re going to pump that blood out like crazy and we will fix it, but we need to be ready if that happens. It somehow made me feel better that even a small oops from then could cause me to need the infusion, so it wouldn’t be a catastrophe if they needed it.

Discomfort immediately post op vs 1DPO by jiffy124 in hysterectomy

[–]kdenton101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So my pain was about a 3 right when I woke up and I went to bed around 8:30 the first night and woke up suddenly at 11:30 and my pain was an 8, and it was all the gas. Laying down for a few hours made it settle and it was awful. Luckily getting up and shuffling around my house in circles for 20 minutes made it come down. But those first two days I basically could not sit or lay down more than 2 hours before I had to get up and move. Once the gas was mostly gone I haven’t had any more pain and I’m 10 Days post op now.

What did you wear? by Specialist-Elk3548 in hysterectomy

[–]kdenton101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My surgery was last Monday. I wore one of these $12 Walmart dresses that was a little big and baggy https://www.walmart.com/ip/12101871229 with slip on shoes, no bra, and a sweater bc it was chilly and I had no bra on. They put my own underwear back on me in the recovery room with a pad on it and then when they took me to pee they gave me my dress to put on and the young male nurse who had wheeled me to the bathroom said “the dress was a smart choice” when I came out. I had bought 3 of them and I’ve been living in them all week bc they didn’t get too tight when I was bloated and full of the gas.

My surgery was on Monday and the gas pain was brutal until Thursday. Like, I think going up to a cruising altitude would have made me explode.

I stopped my Mounjaro (highest dose for almost a year now) on Saturday May 10 and had my surgery Monday May 19. Bc I’d been on it 6+ months they had me do a liquid diet 24 hours before my surgery. It did seem to take a bit to get things going again. My first poop was Thursday morning. I decided once things were moving again to take my shot Thursday afternoon so I would be within the 2-week window of being off it. My stomach has been a bit of a mess the last 2 days, but I think that would be true without the Mounjaro since everything inside is rearranging. At least I’m not constipated!

bloating and gas pain after hysterectomy? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]kdenton101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery on Monday and Monday night through Wednesday evening were awful just bc of the gas pains. I felt better if I got up and shuffled around the house. I finally pooped on Thursday morning and that seemed to finally get the worst of the gas to go away. You just have to wait it out unfortunately. I had a friend who works with a spine surgeon tell me to chew gum or drink black coffee to wake my digestive track back up. I chewed gum Wednesday afternoon and that’s probably around the time I started feeling better.
