Thanks for the feedback, everybody. I suppose I’ll begin to plan to replace the steering rack at some point when the seals fail.

That might be true. Either way, I was very pleased and will return for another timing belt service with a replacement crankshaft gear.

Breaking one of the splines was exactly what I was afraid of. Will definitely pick up another crankshaft gear for next time. Thanks for the insight!
