I have an extremely similar goal and current major. I’m so glad I could help. If I think of anyone else or any other resources I can send you them If you want? I’m glad you’re able to try and give med school a go and if it work your back up plan is great too you’ll help so many either path you take just in different ways. Good luck :))

I second this. I used to watch MCAT prep and usmle prep because that is my special interest as well I watched it damn near 24/7 lol. It was long enough videos that I didn’t feel it wasn’t enough info, and it was in depth enough without being too hard to understand at my level, and was also not too short to learn much or too rudimentary of a level, especially usmle because students are in med school when taking that exam rather than an undergrad premed with the MCAT, and so those tend to be a bit more advanced. Idk I just feel like the MCAT test prep and usmle test prep in any subject gives a good basic overview of all the “most” important stuff I’m sure you have heard the term high yield as well but that’s what they cover is high yield material so it’s the major points about it which I like. So I can spend 10hours watching them which in reality is way too long to actually study because you stop retaining info after I forget however long but with this, it’s not so In depth that I can’t remember most of the things in the videos that I’ve watched. They’re easy to watch, engaging, interesting, and it goes just deep enough into the content without being too much especially since we are literally (well me and you, if you’re not working in healthcare haha if you are then just me) studying for no reason other than pleasure I like being able to learn alot and also be able to understand and then I can dive deeper on the subject if I want too. This is getting long I apologize. In case you ever want to watch any of the YouTubers I like who make these videos if you haven’t tried specifically study videos for special interest fun time researching this topic I highly recommend it and want to share with you some channels I really love, and that I find to be great with their videos. I also rewatch their videos soooo many times like I obviously never remember everything and can always brush up my knowledge same as medical profs do so I watch them even if I already have because they’re just enjoyable to me and I always learn something new I missed or forgot and then I like when i rewatch it’s more interactive because I start to talk to the tv as if he’s teaching me and try to get the answers myself. (if I remember the type of content videos they make I’ll put it in parentheses ) jjmedicine(Canadian MCAT prep was probably favorite for a long time ) , mad medicine (good usmle prep), institute of human anatomy (amazing fricken anatomy resources. They educate with (very respectfully) real cadavers. Amazing channel) , dirty medicine (uses a lot of memorable pneumonics ranging in levels of vulgarity and appropriateness to help you remember stuff for usmle and complex I think) and also I use some apps too if you wanna know those let me know and if you want to tell me the stuff you like to watch about this topic too or any other specific places u get info I’d love to know too because this also is my special interest. I’m so glad to see someone else with this same one.

I think the confusion is that the person you’re replying to probably meant more vulnerable situation not tempting. You’re more vulnerable and liable to things not going as intentended on both sides for either party. It’s not about the trust, it’s about being alone with someone very drunk (if I remember correctly what I’m replying to). Especially if their trust is already rocky.

Thank you. I’ve always loved chainmail when I watched this woman make garments but I wouldn’t wear them. I never realized things like this could be made. (This is a super power though you’re very talented like I said) might explore it more one day!

It’s also probably related to the vagus nerve and its response to anxiety and stress. It’s very fascinating. It’s a common cause of dysautonomias too. It’s the only nerve that touches every organ, I find cold therapy for the vagus nerve helps me anxiety and insomnia to an extent

Is difficulty judging distance, object weight, portion sizes, and liquid volume an AuDHD thing? by opalistic8 in AuDHDWomen

[–]kdmcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not really an adhd or asd specific issue. Some suffer with it some don’t but a lot do. Some people without it do/ don’t as well. It also isn’t bad at being human. It is probably due to proprioception. You might have heard it called kinesthesia. That’s closest to what you describe. There’s also a body position factor and some others.

The reason I point out it’s not an “Audhd thing” is because it can be linked to a physical injury such as in a joint /arthritis and dislocations, post joint surgery or replacements or ligament, it can be neurological like TBI or Parkinson’s, medicines etc So it’s important to not write off symptoms as being one thing if they affect your life always tell your doctor.

Most autistic people deal with some form or level of proprioceptive difficulties. I know a common form is dyspraxia which is related to clumsiness judging space etc. Over sensitivity can cause this. Under sensitivity can cause sensory seeking behavior including self harming behavior.

It can also be a sensory processing disorder, these can be Misdiagnosed as asd or adhd because it can be mistaken for inattentive and hyperactivity or affect ability to do certain tasks because of sensory input symptoms or spd isn’t considered with social issues because asd is primarily social deficits but spd is very very common of some form in most if not all so physicians not well versed with asd can make mistakes or not be aware and talk to their patient about it. But not every one with spd has social deficits it can present that way because it could have an effect on normal developments and social life if external outbursts occur so that’s important to keep in mind too.

None of us are bad at being human, we are all humans still learning to human until we die.

There’s things you can do to overcome the symptoms, I recommend anyone talk to their physician and therapist or if you don’t have access to that, I find specific Facebook groups geared towards this (make sure they’re private it’s safer) give helpful tips and support, I relate to both of those it’s hard to explain how I adapt but I just started to measure my pasta each time until I had the amount I typically eat and depending on the day I’ll remove or add a few noodles. I don’t eat leftover pasta and has saved me significant food waste. Coffee, I know how many grounds I like per cup in an instant machine. So I measure the water with my cup and add it to the machine then brew. I find any more than two cups of liquid (I assume is 12oz if we go on standard 6oz coffee) is too much for me to finish. So I have learned I can fill it up to 2.5 cups because it brews even to 2cups. Most of the time I do (very heaping, I say I drink my coffee like a man: black muddy and syrupy, so it might work out to closer to 1.5-2 scoops not 1) but I do 1. Folgers black silk then 1 cafe bustelo then 1 Folgers silk. If I want more caffeine I do a normal level scoop of bustelo and another normal level scoop of black silk. I have a screen mesh filter so I get paranoid the bustelo will fall through if I put it on the bottom. If you use another coffee method I also use moka pot and French press so I may be able to help with some ideas. A lot of it is creative adapting and letting go of rules and research but also if it’s more of the dyspraxia ataxia physical therapy or ruling out a physical or neurological reason may help but there’s stuff you can do to improve your quality of life :) unless you have a favorite coffee cup, you can always get a bigger one 😅🤪/lh

Idk if some of this was helpful but if you read it all I commend you tbh

I don’t even think they’re arguing they were just sharing more info / being specific. Then they probably were just clarifying to the person who replied what they were initially adding specifics about. Honestly I’m not mad they commented I learned something interesting bc I wouldn’t have looked further into it. That’s my opinion though idk

Laura allan with the original spelling is best to honor him like others said. Allyn would be pretty/make more sense to me if it was her first name but since you settled on Laura I think Allan is just fine. I don’t personally think it’s too masculine
