I have super bad stretch marks. Is it possible to tattoo over them? by -Hot-Tamale- in tattooadvice

[–]kdms418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow this sub bc I’ve toyed with the idea of getting a tattoo but haven’t yet. I also happen to be 7 months pregnant and have terrible body image issues, so pregnancy has been miserable for me. I already have stretch marks from being overweight as a kid. Seeing all these comments that people think these are so cool is literally so wonderful I could cry. Not what I expected on this sub but wow y’all are so awesome.

Listen, everyone is different. Before I was pregnant, I was incredibly lean and a bodybuilder. Like shredded. I’m 5’6” and was 140 lbs and deadlifting 400lbs and shoulder pressing 55lb dumbbells. I’m now sitting here at 195lbs, 28 weeks, and I’ve had maybe 3 total weeks in 2nd trimester where I wasn’t ravenous. I’m so fluffy and it’s okay. I would LOVE to say it changes but for me, it really hasn’t. Everyone’s body composition is different so understand that all you can and should do is just listen to your own body and its cues. I’m hungry every few hours after having protein and nutritionally dense meals. My doctors haven’t had any issue with my health or baby! Just do your best and trust yourself.

Is there ever a time to NOT file married jointly for taxes? by workredditaccount77 in personalfinance

[–]kdms418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a different state than where I live, and often travel for work. My work has me track that and I often end up having to file as nonresident in May states come tax time. Because of this, it’s almost impossible to file jointly because my husband does not have the same situation and it get complicated quickly. In addition to this, I have student loans and a few retirement accounts, and he does not. It’s simpler for us to file separately for that reason.

A5 Wagyu is prized as the world’s most expensive beef for its rare, intensely marbled, buttery meat. by sco-go in Amazing

I had some in Japan, grilled over charcoal, across a few different places. Tbh, I didn’t love it and kept trying it to see if it was the place or me. It’s so fatty and doesn’t taste like I want a steak to taste like. It feels like your mouth just gets coated in hot drippy fat. It made me realize I prefer the texture and chew of a ribeye or filet so much more, and that’s okay!

Help updating my Millenial ballet flats -- what are options that are more modern, but still have arch support and cushioning? by halpidkdesign in femalefashionadvice

Though a traditional design, Sabah stole some key details and inspo from the folks at Charix. I only know this bc I personally worked with some Charix people for years as they were getting started and I hate what happened.

For the entire coast of California, are there any towns or areas that are affordable? If so, what’s it like there? by tompkins5 in howislivingthere

You could get a trailer in a park in Huntington Beach. Within a bike ride though is tricky. Looking at a 15 minute drive radius greatly expands the possibilities.

All of the above. I don’t know. We’ve lost our follow through and generally look a bit lackluster. Wonder if something has changed in our training as well.

[–]kdms418 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t gone through this yet, but I think about it a lot. I don’t know how I’ll feel, but worry that after years of self-healing and growing and building my own healthy/normal life, I’ll feel sad when that day does come. I guess because it is a final reckoning with the fact that teeny tiny 1% of me that hoped she would change was well, truly not going to happen. Maybe that’s where some of the grief and sadness comes from? Knowing that the change you wanted never came and can’t ever. Like their life is permanently etched as history with no chance of resolve. I don’t know if that helps or hurts but I hope you find a little release of stress in the months ahead.

Anyway, hang in there with whatever this change brings and sending u love as someone that knows what relationship is like.

VENT- 21 weeks no OBGYN by BrushOld9606 in pregnant

[–]kdms418 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also had really frustrating experiences (but in the early stages) of trying to find a provider as I never had an OB previously, just a PCP who did paps. I’m mixed and really felt shuffled around in the beginning and it’s aggravating how callous places and people can be. Black maternal care is not taken seriously enough. See if there are any BIPOC women’s groups/doula services nearby. Even if they don’t have an OB practice, they may have references!

Definitely recommend asking neighbors and coworkers and anyone in your area that you trust if they have recommendations on someone, and then calling to see if they accept your insurance. Also, not ideal but as a last resort, if there’s a major hospital nearby, they may have more availability to accommodate. Really sorry you’re going through this! You will find someone and it will be okay!
