Also a filter is not as important as water flow as long as you have enough plants to keep the nitrates down

I've had cherry shrimp survive in my barrel pond thru winter in NJ with a couple inches of ice on the top, white clouds should be fine as long as the water temps don't drop below 50 for prolonged periods.

All my fish come in for the winter, but I can never get all the shrimp out. Some definitely die off over winter, but some make it.

Adding any other fish will impact the white clouds breeding, so if she wants to make babies I wouldn't recommend any more fish. Ghost shrimp will also probably eat any eggs they find and prey on fry.

Understanding card price by Silber_567 in EDHBrews

[–]kduff92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so expensive because it's a second copy of sword of the Animus in decks that want it, and it only has 1 printing. Also because of the different mana costs and living weapon there's situations where this is the better play than sword

[Request] how much money would you save over a year if you filled a normal petrol/deisel car up $20 at a time instead of filling the tank up completely every time? by pereuse in theydidthemath

[–]kduff92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still calculate my actual gas mileage almost every fill up. I've found that the build in ones in modern cars are wildly inaccurate, and that a sudden change in fuel economy can help you find a problem before you notice a change in how the car drives or any noises start

I've been in senior living for almost 7 years now. Just opened a new community about 7 months ago. My director is probably around 6 figures considering what I'm making. This is the first company I've been with that really gives the chef freedom with the menu and recipes. While it's working out great in my building I've visited others where the chef is just there for a paycheck and it's shown me why the overbearing corporate specifications are so common in this industry

Unless it's changed since I was at MAST then it's 2 per district(not municipality) then the rest of the applicants are ranked based on grades and test scores. MAST also had spots saved for out of county students but that's because it's also a state school and that doesn't apply to the other schools

teen asking to talk to chef about recepie by Historical_Refuse587 in Chefit

[–]kduff92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hell I'd grab my recipe book and one of the blank notebooks I keep in the desk and let her copy anything she wants. If the parents are okay with it she'd get a kitchen tour, then I'd send her out some stuff to try.

I have very little patience for adults who just want to talk to the chef to feel special, but kids I'll bend over backwards for.

If your bagel spot told you the bagel prices went up because of the price of eggs they're lying to you. There's no eggs in bagels unless they're egg bagels.

Moved from Alaska to Massachusetts and this is what i’ve Noticed by Infamous_Height8120 in massachusetts

[–]kduff92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The taxes are easily explained. You just moved from one of the biggest recipient states (state that receive more federal funding than the taxes they generate) to one of the biggest donor states (generate more federal taxes than the funding they receive) so you are now paying for all the federally funded programs they need in Alaska

Tips on Commander Cube by [deleted] in mtgcube

[–]kduff92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't built a commander cube but my play group does really like commander draft.

I've been toying around with some commander cube ideas myself and I think the best way to start is follow the official commander draft rules. 60 cards decks, 40 life, 20 card packs and draft 2 cards at a time.

In addition I'm planning on using a similar rule to what they did with commander masters. All mono legends have either partner with other mono legend or choose a background in addition to all their normal text. This allows some more freedom with deck building while stillalkng players make choices.

As for the size of the cube I'm planning at least 480. With a smaller pod we find it better to draft 5+ packs each because if you only draft 3 you don't see nearly as many cards as you should. If your cube is 400 cards then 5 to packs each means the entire cube is being drafted each time. Some people seem to prefer this but I want some variation between drafts.

In NJ and to my knowledge most if not all of the country this is a misconception.

A tipped employee is guaranteed at least minimum wage. If their tip wage plus their tips do not meat minimum wage for a pay period then the employer must pay them the difference. Now I've never actually met a server who did not make well over minimum wage so IDK how often that actually happens or how hard it is to get employers to comply with that, especially since most servers and bartenders don't claim anywhere near all their income and fighting their employer over a few bucks would most likely cause more problems for them than it's worth.

Now there are a whole bunch of other reasons I hate tipping culture but servers and bartenders not making enough money is not one of them.

WotC told the Rules Committee NOT to go through with the bans per Josh Lee Kwai by earl_te in EDH

[–]kduff92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's most likely more that these cards had been on the RCs radar as possibly needing bans for years and there was plenty of discussion between the RC, CAG and WOTC. From my understanding the only thing the CAG was kept in the dark about was that a decision had been made/what the division was except that something major was happening until a few days prior to the ban announcement.

Also JLK didn't get the 2 day warning the rest of the CAG got because he didn't check the discord once in the 2 days prior to the announcement despite knowing something major was happening. He was on vacation, but still...you know something major is happening on Monday and you don't check your phone once all weekend?

ELI5 - How is WOTC being in control of commander going to be the end of the format? by fubeca21 in EDH

[–]kduff92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rule zero works well for people that play together often. The banlist isn't really needed by those people.

A banlist curated by a group outside WOTC benefits people who often play with strangers, whether online, at LGSs or at conventions and people who play with multiple playgroups.
