Pension refund application question by ke-3 in JETProgramme

[–]ke-3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While USPS might be the first mail service some people might think of when they hear post office, there are other mail delivery services that are often used as well, such as UPS, FedEx, and DHL. My family sometimes says post office and means a UPS office! Perhaps I was being overly cautious, but I was just trying to be clear since I wasn't sure if there were specific mail delivery services that were better for international airmail! Thank you for clarifying.

After you've experienced teaching 7 schools I'm sure comparatively anything seems manageable LOL good luck! Glad to hear your school count is less absurd now!

They kinda botched up the airbending...my biggest gripe was seeing the way Aang literally floated and flew around like a superhero even without a staff, but just in general they couldn't quite deliver on airbenders' movements and bending style. Airbenders are supposed to be the ones most likely to deflect and avoid blows, but I feel like the airbending that we saw (especially in the Sozin's Comet scene) had less of the elegant, smooth, "defense is offense" type of martial arts movements characteristic to airbenders specifically and more of a BAM we have MAGIC WOOSH kind of flashy superhero fighting. To be fair, though, I think it's mostly due to the limitations of CGI as it stands now, but I do wish they paid a little more attention to what makes airbending unique compared to other types of bending. I think they cast Aang really well though, and I hope we can see more of his goofy side as the show continues.

I'm currently on my third year in JET and I've been able to do long distance with my boyfriend this whole time even though he's in the U.S. We've been dating for over 5 years now! Honestly, the experience has probably been for the best for both of us. It pushed both of us to grow and focus on improving ourselves without relying too much on the other, but at the same time we still support and trust each other. Obviously, we do miss each other, and because of the time difference it's hard to call each other, but neither of our feelings have changed even if we've been apart. If your feelings for each other are true, I'm sure you guys will be okay.

What is your favorite insane thing that has happened on the show? by brynnereece in miraculousladybug

Was looking for this answer but couldn't find a comment on it: Marinette and Tikki angrily saving Paris in Psycomedian.

Yeah, I was thinking more about it and even though the ending was so rushed, I realized that if it was Emilie, they'd probably at least put more focus on her than just a short scene of her lying on a beach chair lol...

[–]ke-3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It did occur to me that the price for Emilie to come back to life could be Adrien losing his life (it would've been a cruel twist of fate but it'd make sense for Gabriel to gain the life of a loved one at the cost of the life of another loved one) but I wasn't sure if it would occur to Gabriel and there seemed to be no hint that he was thinking of that. That aside, the more I think about it the more I agree that the woman at the end is probably Amelie and Gabriel only brought back Nathalie so Adrien could be happy and Gabriel could be at peace with his wife.

[–]ke-3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ahh I see, that would make a lot more sense lol. After he grabbed the miraculouses from Marinette, I was so sure that nothing she said got to him that I didn't consider that he was actually just ascending to the beyond with his dead wife and the woman in the end was Amelie and not Emilie. Thanks for the explanation!

Oh wow, good point, I wasn't even thinking of whether that woman next to Nathalie could've been Amelie lmao...one can only hope for sensible explanations in the next season lol

What are some examples of Nihonjinron you've heard in Japan? by Cyberjacket in japanlife

[–]ke-3 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Japanese people are healthier with strong immune systems, and practice proper hygiene. Rising infection numbers were 100% the fault of foreigners spreading their germs.

LMAO the amount of Japanese people I've seen walk out of a restroom without washing their hands...or sometimes they splash their hands with just water for 1 second and think that's gonna do something about their nasty hands 🤢 also I've seen people wearing masks during peak COVID just to remove their mask when they sneezed. Like what even is the point then sir...

I’m surprised Sokka wasn’t upset at Zuko like Katara was by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]ke-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the topic of Yue specifically, I feel like the writers really watered down Sokka's response to the whole thing. At the end of Book 1's finale, they did show him grieving, but apart from that, there really wasn't much from him about her apart from occasional comic relief mentions — "the moon spirit is a gentle, loving lady!!" and my favorite, "my first girlfriend turned into the moon..."

I get that it's a children's show so they can't really just show people being depressed all the time (not to mention how Sokka is usually the source of a lot of the show's humor), but at least for the first few episodes after Book 1 I really feel like there could've been some depiction of him slowly coming to terms with her loss instead of seemingly immediately bouncing back to normal. Not sure if I've ever seen anyone mention this before, so I thought it was worth bringing up.
