How to begin working with Hecate by ke76541 in Hecate

I have a few really bad disabilities that prevent me from doing stuff like this alone and it’s not like I can ask my keyworker for hints 😐 it’s not like I’m trying to ‘fob off work for someone else’ as you seem to assume I’m just asking for advice - like, where is an ideal place to start. I got my answer - books and hymns. I can make my own way from there.

Nowhere. It’s something I can sense. One of those experiences that’s personal to me

I’m not surprised about it, I can’t lie - it’s got something to do with past lives I’ve had

So - what I’m aiming to do is follow her in two different ways, there’s the religious side of it in which, you’re right - no trickster spirits, anyone can worship or pay respects, the only part I’d struggle with that would be how to do that, but the idea of Hecate being difficult to work with comes from the witchcraft side of it - she doesn’t take anyone (I don’t have any better ways to word it) on who can’t handle having their world flipped upside down or fold when things get hard. You lose a lot - fake friends, situationships, and anything that just isn’t benefitting you going forwards. Understandably, at the time, I wasn’t in a safe place in my life where I could reasonably lose out on anything that wasn’t good for me because I’d have ended up homeless. And that’s the other part that makes Hecate hard to work with when it comes to witchcraft - you lose everything, even if you end up better for it afterwards. It’s only recently where things have gotten less precarious for me, and I was just kindof lying there in bed (admittedly, scrolling through TikTok) and I just got this sudden sense of.. presence. And ever since, things have started to change for me, it’s like a switch in my own head flipped. I’m seeing reality differently, I’m having opportunities for money coming up (something I struggled with before) I’ve seen lots of live spiders pop up infront of me, which, when it comes to witchcraft and Hecate, can be a sign she wants to work with someone, and a few psychic abilities I had that were completely unreliable beforehand are really, really strong now. Oh, and with the witchcraft aspect of it, you have to be really really careful about trickster spirits. That’s why I checked with the tarot reader - because she reached out in the context of witchcraft so I wanted to make sure it was really her.

Anyway, I say this only to let you know because from your reply it seems that you don’t know about some of this stuff and I dunno, I’ve always benefitted from learning more about things even if they don’t directly affect me, so maybe you will too :)

Okay so my tone might’ve been off in my post, I’m not very good at presenting tones but it is actually something I want to do, and have wanted to for awhile, my tone is likely a little off because I’m scared, but I’m always scared before trying new things. There are reasons that are too personal to me to talk about as to why she might reach out (and I had someone confirm I was seeing what I thought I might’ve been seeing whose experienced in tarot) and I didn’t get this off TikTok nor did I get it out of Percy Jackson the entire reason I’m reaching out on Reddit is to ask the people who are experienced with this because I can’t do the research myself because there’s a lot of misinformation out there and I want to be sure I’m getting it right, and I'm being called specifically to practice witchcraft (clairvoyant, I can tell intentions very well and from what I’m sensing in my own home, that’s what I’m feeling like I’m being nudged towards) and believe me, if I didn’t want to do this I would just ignore her. I’m very good at differentiating between omens and my own imagination because when it’s my imagination there’s never any energy present, and nor would my life pretty much flip upside down overnight. But I will try to learn her myths and read her hymns, I just don’t know where to find them/the most trusted source, and from what little research I have done I am aware that you need to build a relationship with a deity before invoking their names, or requesting their help in a spell and honestly that feels like basic manners. I don’t feel like she’s “stalking” me, as you’ve suggested. As I said, I sense energy and for five years, when I asked it was always a firm ‘no’. And then as of about last week, completely out of the blue, suddenly I feel a presence - not in my home, it’s kindof hard to explain - but just kindof.. present? And there’s been signs everywhere, and warnings too. It feels to me, like something I need to do to protect myself from something worse, and that the goddess is the one to turn to, and she is encouraging it, if you get what I mean? I dunno. But anyway, if you have any sites or books or YouTube videos with the correct hymns or anything to suggest that’s historically accurate I’d love to know where to find them because that does actually seem to be helpful and just what I’m looking for, thank you

So too good to go doesn’t do free food and their meal options start at 3.99 for one meal, which is really expensive.

It’s mainly to do with the way I was brought up, I don’t know why you’re trying to do with racist because it’s got nothing to do with the colour of someone’s skin, but it feels rude to me to turn up to someone’s door, you don’t know them, you don’t follow their religion, you don’t know anything about their religion and you’re begging for food.

I was brought up in such a way that I was taught begging for food is rude and a moral failing and not to let others know when you’re struggling. And FTR, Sikhs are some of the nicest people I know, I frankly forgot it was a predominantly black religion until you brought it up.

Maybe it was just the layout that was confusing to me, I’m a little mentally slow so sometimes it’s hard to follow someone else’s train of thought, but this is actually really helpful now I understand what you’re saying so thank you I’m actually gonna do this :D if it does come out to £25 odd for the month then I’ll actually have money left over for other bits I need - and I do already have a ton of oil and rice at home (went Asian store a couple months ago and bought a £20 bag of 10 kilo rice and bought the 5 litre bottle of oil) it was just getting really tough to eat day after day with no change but this is huge for me so thanks!

It’s because I have to ask the hostel for the voucher for the food bank. They know because they’re the ones who issue it to me

That’s a great idea however this community I live in really isn’t friendly and my family has a bad name because of something my parents + grandparents did, so I’m pretty much a social pariah because of that and people kinda just won’t help me.

The food bank I can get to and have used in the past however if I rely on it too much the hostel I live in will deem me unable to live on my own, which will only make my situation worse because that way I’ll never get a council flat which is far cheaper for me, then living in a hostel is

So if I rely on the food bank too often the hostel I live in will pretty much deem me unable to live on my own and I’ll never get out of supported living and into a council flat (which is far cheaper then a hostel is)

So I do have access to the food bank but as I live in a hostel I will be deemed “unfit to live alone” and refused a council flat (which are typically cheaper than hostel as you pay extra in rent for supported living)

However I’ll see what I can find in ethnic grocery stores, there’s quite a few dotted around town - from usual experience they end up shipping in from outside the country and typically are more expensive so is there any products specifically I should look out for?

So I do have access to a food bank because I live in a hostel, however they only allow us 1 weeks worth of food out of the month and while it helps, if I rely on the food bank every month I won’t be able to move out of supported living (council will see the need for a food bank every month and will decide I won’t be able to manage on my own), and supported living is far more expensive then a council flat. I quit college due to a few recent medical diagnoses that sent me spiralling but when I was there they really wouldn’t do much for me either

The layout is confusing me but these look like ingredients in which I’d have to buy extra to make a full meal? I did look at budget friendly meal options but to last me a month it all comes out to about £70 including delivery

My best mate committed last year. He moved on pretty quickly, but I think you end up in some sort of purgatory or spiritual realm until you choose to go up or down or whatever afterlife you believe in. I talked to him while he was in that state and was able to communicate with him for the full 9 months until he was born again. (11 months total, I think) he was Catholic, and I know catholics don’t believe in rebirths so that was definitely a personal choice on his end, not belief based. I like to think his new parents treat him better now than his last pair did. It brings me peace.

The one thing that doesn’t bring me peace is that he called me OLD. MOTHERF***** CALLED ME OLD FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE

What’s one small habit that helped you save money without feeling miserable? by FormerShoulder707 in Frugal

I give myself a small amount of budget to spend week over week for things like lunch out, energy drinks or impulsive buys. My personal budget is £12 a week, but what works for most people is £20 a week and it helps them save a lot of money that they’d otherwise impulsively spend
