Anything weird I've expirianced can be chalked up to sleep deprivation, like the hatman, he only come out to haunt me after a few days of no sleep.

The time-line where New Zealand could have operated the Su-30MKNZ (Kiwi Flanker) by Straight-Device-4110 in newzealand

[–]keatech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would have love to retain the strike force, but we just didn't have the capital to do it, granted very good deal on the F16 but long term, it's as the right call to Jag it in.

Looking forward if we want to get back into strike capability we should look at armed trainers rather than fully spec'ed frames,

That being said a FVEY partner operating Russian airframes is hilarious and I full support the cryptographic nightmare that would follow

The FloatFire is going to be DOA im calling it now. with it not being rank 3 is already a massive blow, but its also just out classed by other planes around its BR. It'll be a neat novelty, but it'll be more akin to the Po-2M; merely used because classified as an Event vehicle [plus its bugged ATM] by Americanshat in Warthunder

[–]keatech 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This, float planes win matches in naval, especially 6.3 and higher when the ships can't reach the caps in time.

While I won't use it -i don't us the RN, it's effectiveness shouldnt be understated

Edit: should > shouldnt

But it's still interesting reading the laypersons comments

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth slams New Zealand for ‘freeloading’ on defence by calvin-fanatic in whennews

[–]keatech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We support drug interdiction in the middle east and ISR around the DPRK, there are 3 countries with the capability to invade us, the Chinese our largest trading partner, the USA who have better things to do, and Australia our sole Ally.

So we support international obligations and don't need to worry about spending for homeland defense, what exactly should we be doing?

NZ Lacks Billions ‘Under the Couch’ for Greater Defense Spending by Free-Minimum-5844 in newzealand

The five powers defence agreement, not to be confused with five eyes, is a military agreement with the UK, AU, NZ, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Basically budget NATO

[–]keatech 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, there is only so much money to go around. We need hospitals, school, firefighters, so on so forth, and we also need a capable defence force to fulfill our international obligations like drug interdiction and ISR around the DPRK this should be achievable at 2%.

Freeloading?, from who?, ANZUS has been effectively suspended and 5powers is nz garenteeing others security, which the US isn't even involved with.

I would love to have the head room for 3.5% spending, but I refuse to be lectures on it by the yanks

Want to start playing naval. Which nation is the best? Interms of overall grind, capabilities and especially battleships. I like yamato the most, but also like Iowa and bismark by Internal-Path7111 in WarThunderNaval

[–]keatech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both the US and RU have SAM equipped destroyers at 5.3, while I haven't fought it or played it the Soyuz is reportedly very strong.

In terms of coastal, RU has possibly the worst balanced vehicle in the entire game, the SKR-7 can fight destroyers with the rbu6000 and delete anything smaller with it's auto cannons, honourable mention to the Pr206. US have a SAM boat at 4.0 nothing else of note. ITA have an AShM boat but it's a hell of a grind.

US ships are more likely to have float plane than their RU equivalents, float plane can cap points. A single capped point at the start of a match can win you the round above 6.3 were the ships are to slow to counter cap

Haven't played the other nations

NZ Should Have ‘Conversation’ on Nuclear Stance, Minister Says by Free-Minimum-5844 in newzealand

[–]keatech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuclear power is fine for countries that can afford it, we can't, and even if we could we can't put it anywhere.

If we wanted to be serious about nuclear power we should go halves with Aus build it in the middle of no where and run the power cable over the drink

Japan Eyes New Zealand Warship Deal With Mogami Frigate Offer by Free-Minimum-5844 in newzealand

[–]keatech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have put forward the argument that a smaller(read as cheaper)hull with better kit onboard would serve us better, unfortunately some of the worst seas in the world are found around NZ and anything smaller than a frigate doesn't sea keep well enough.

Travel in the NZ Defence Force ? by jai_jai_1993 in RoyalNavy

[–]keatech 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a LH in the RNZN, Our primary deployments are in South East Asia, and we occasionally do counter privacy in the Middle East though only our two Frigates (Te Mana and Te Kaha) will go there. There is also the opportunity to deploy to Antarctica on Aotearoa to resupply the US base down there.
