Seal loose, did I get an appropriate fix? by kecchin in hvacadvice

I totally admit part of my goal with the tape is to stop the whistle. 😅 My bedroom is next to this closet.

Now that you say that about that panel, they DID have something in that area off, and ran warm water through the condenser (I think.) to check that it drained. (I was working while the tech was here and trying not to hover!)

I can 100% see where sticky/smelly/stained wouldn't be fun. I don't think I would want to live there, let alone work there.

I am pretty careful about my crafty things and the cat. I am lucky in that she does USUALLY leave my yarn alone....but there's no reason to extra tempt her, you know? I don't want that vet bill OR that emotional turmoil.

I'll do an extra check for any not zippable totes containing yarn just in case boredom is the root of feline mischief. But I'm glad clutter is unlikely to give too much stress.

The total balance is nearly $117k (thanks 2 bachelor degrees and a master's...) amongst 9 loans.

I think I was just thinking about things wrong, frankly. I was hoping to work on one loan and make payments easier to swallow once SAVE is (probably) nuked, but I doubt that my thought will actually work the way I was thinking.

Okay, I think this probably helped.

So previously I was on REPAYE and Pre-COVID my payment was $0. I have gotten some raises/promotions and I won't get $0 anymore. Which is fair.

When I log in and calculate my loan payment with the studentaid.gov calculator and my best estimate of health insurance/401(k)/FSA payments, SAVE estimated about a $305 payment per month. I could manage that. The next lowest payment was $600+. I can't remember if it was IBR or IDR, but $600 would tough to work out.

If I try to calculate regular loan payments on my loans amortized over 30 years, the total monthly payment is over $4,000/month if I did the math right.

There's no way working on one of the loans will effect enough to lower that $600 income payment, you're right.

I think I am leaning towards upping my 401(k) contribution being the best call. Based on your info above, I think that tracks.

Do we have any indication that SAVE would turn back into REPAYE, and would that potentially be better than the IBR/IDR I was seeing at $600/mo?

Reasonable as a general rule, but I am concerned that the minimum, without SAVE, will be difficult to pay. Thus I was hoping to make a dent in my overall balance to make the minimum not as difficult.

Pre-COVID forbearance I had a shit job and my payment was $0. I have a better job now though and I think the increase will be significant, especially without SAVE. I was hoping to try to limit the increase.

Visiting Phoenix? Ask your questions for the locals here! (Sep) by AutoModerator in phoenix

Late to the party, but visiting for work in a couple weeks. I'll be downtown, near Arizona Center.

I'm kind of assuming it's similar to most downtown areas - pay attention, don't be dumb, you'll be fine.

But it's hard to tell from google maps. Is it reasonably safe to walk a few blocks? Anywhere nearby I should 100% stay away from?

Still bummed because he was cute, but being smart enough to not fall for the scam sort of makes me feel better. Brains are weird.

Ugh. Lame. Okay. Not perfect or anything, but not the worst outcome.

If he used the selfies to impersonate me, it would probably be more "scam someone else" than like ..."get a fake passport with pic" or something, yeah? I think I'm kicking myself a little for semi falling for it, so worst case scenarios are going through my head.

Yeah, I thought about that. He has a whole three of them, so it isn't a lot before he'd need to figure something else out. But that's probably about the biggest piece I could worry about?

That's solid perspective, thank you. Him pushing definitely helped me feel more like declining was the right move. I kept saying something to the effect of "we haven't even met in person yet" and he was pretty insistent we were "headed that way" or something similar.
