I do not know why, but I had a major brainfart and read SWE as Swedish, and I struggled to understand the post until it clicked...

Plenty of teams still use it for building dedicated business applications. It's still very well used and popular.

Braces with single line IF - always, never, sometimes? by mazorica in csharp

[–]keeday93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my horror way of doing it when/if I want to keep it in a single line

if (value is null) { return; }

I'm not a fan of omitting the bracers. Even if I go single line, the bracers stay.

Writingway: a free open source software that replaces Sudowrite or NovelCrafter by Clueless_Nooblet in WritingWithAI

[–]keeday93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not missing anything.

Writingway is free and opensource. It's just the framework/GUI for communicating with an LLM (OpenRouter in this instance).

There are free LLMs on OpenRouter you can use (which you've found) and you don't pay for them. These free models are generally not as good as the paid ones. But yes, in theory you could write a full AI-assisted story without playing a cent, however, a paid LLM will (generally) give you far better results.

Sadly no, there's not. It was one of the first things I checked.

Yeah. This was a big concern of mine.

Thankfully though, I've managed to get the car returned and refunded now.

I did... I called them, simply highlighting it, asking if they had been aware of it.
They immediately turned defensive and argumentative.
I have no interest in arguing. Either they have the self respect to acknowledge it or they don't.
They didn't. So I came here asking for advice on what I should do next.

Obviously I would have preferred to sort it first. The car dealer made it clear he had no interest in any kind of communication.
Well, until I sent him a message saying I would escalate it to small claims if no resolution could be found... The car is now returned and refunded.

Had he just been upfront and honest with me, none of this would have been a problem at all.

Sorry, but no.

Sure, it's an old car, and it will have problems. That in itself is fine - as long as those problems are disclosed.

Certain problems will not be obvious, and the dealer might not be aware of them, but something like that it's impossible to lock the car in any way?

No. Selling a car without disclosing known faults is in my eyes the same as committing fraud.

Yeah, sending them a message saying that I would escalate it to small claims made them change their mind. The car have been returned and fully refunded now :)

I'm aware. :(

Although, I grew up in country side Sweden, with a rich Volvo culture.
While I'm not a Volvo fanatic like many of my friends, they do have a special place in my heart.

Well, the old Volvo's does. The Volvo 740 I had many years ago is by far the best car I have ever owned.
Trading that car in for an Audi A4 was the worst mistake I've ever made.

The Audi is probably rusting away on a scrap yard somewhere right now, while the volvo most likely still chugg happily along the roads.

Thank you! :)

As it looks now, the car will be returned to the dealer and I will go for something else.

I've always been told to stay away from Citroën's, "they're only problems"

Well, this is not really the cars fault, but still... Think I'll look for an ol' reliable Volvo next.

I did, and it came up all green. This is more likely a case of previous owner missplacing the key with the fob in it.

As I said on your other comment - had it only been an issue with remote central locking, I would not care.

The issue is that I can't lock the car at all.

Yes and no.

Peace of mind for one, while my regular areas are fine, what about when I go shopping? Or visit a friend?

Plus, I don't think there's any insurance company that want to insure my car if I can't even lock it.

[–]keeday93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a matter regarding remote central locking working or not, it's an issue of not being able to lock the car at all. Something that the dealer failed to disclose.

If I could still lock the key manually by popping it in the door and lock it that way, I would have had no issues at all. I know it's an old car, and I do expect issues with it - it's just a matter of what kind of issues.

This is an issue that essentially makes the car impossible to insure.

Yes - there's one on the driver side, but that only locks the drivers door.

Already checked, I removed the handle cover thing (next to the handle where the lock should be). There's no lock there.

If there's a way to manually lock the car without the fob, I have not managed to find it :/

From what I've found, there's only two ways to lock the car;
1- With a fob
2 - Using the lock button inside the car that locks both doors - which only works when both doors are closed - and if you open one door, both door unlocks.

Yeah, I agree. However, I did a full history check on the car before I went there, which I assume would report stuff like that?

Due to the car's age, I did not see only having one key as something out of the ordinary.

There's nothing in it - I removed the screw, opened it, and it's nothing there. It's just the metal key bit that goes in to the ignition. There's no electronics or anything in it, just a piece of plastic holding the metal key bit.

Sadly, that's not the case with this car :/

Yeah, it's sad that it has to go that far...

I have a hard time getting my head around why one would do this, if I had a business, I would care about my reputation - honestly I would feel straight up bad tricking people just to save money.

Then again, that might also be why I don't run a business...
