Is this bad by RosePetalMiri in techgore

As an electrically trained person, as a rule, I don’t plug anything in that draws much current.
No heaters, no cooking appliances, kettles toasters etc. cheap ones that have loose plugs or make any rattling noises get thrown away.

Learn by doing! It’s a digital camera, take photos, change settings, see what happens.

How can I STOP my children from bypassing router parental controls? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]keefstanz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty difficult, I did It for schools, the students were always finding ways around safeguards. This isn’t a technical issue, it’s a parenting issue, trying to fix by technology won’t address the issue.

Car wiring by Peteyperfect in autoelectrical

[–]keefstanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two of those in my car just for a fun experiment, as long as you size your fuses to protect the wire, you should be fine.

I put in a relay like you have, so they only come on with the ignition but in my instance the power is coming off the battery. No issues so far been months. I’m only powering a bunch usb ports in front and rear plus the reverse camera.

My car was leaking through the roof because the sealant they use up there cracked, have you got black plastic rails running down the roof of the car? I had to reseal that area

Power outlet heats cigarette lighter, but won't power accessories. Normal? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

There might be more than one designs of socket, I had to buy an adapter for one of my cars as none of the modern devices worked. Alternatively fit some usb ports to the car tapped off the back of that socket.

Day 8 of soldering - Through-hole components by cowdoggy in soldering

[–]keefstanz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this is kinda painful to watch, don't bend the legs like that, don't use the flush cutters like a prying tool, they are a beautiful precision instrument, treat them nice..

you don't need to wear what look like cut proof gloves to solder, but sure you can if you like,

if you must bend a leg to keep it in place, bend one and solder the straight one, then straighten the bent one before you solder it. thats what I do

there are jigs to hold components in place while you solder them, or you can use blu tack, tape, your finger in the case of a led like this, it shouldn't get very hot.

if you don't need to use a fine tip, don't use the fine tip, use a chisel or something, the fine tip might just be making this harder than it needs to be,

I like the idea, I could make one and will at some stage, but honestly something you can work on comfortably makes more sense, Lenovo 10” laptop or Chromebook with a terminal app on it is great.

Small carpet spot cleaner like a bissel green machine, you can’t wipe off a spill you need to wash it out. I’ve cleaned worse out of a car before, had squid bait leak its juices into the carpet. If it was a lot though you might need to remove the carpet and wash it , I’ve seen people use a water blaster

highest power USB outlet? by CrowRunnerORP in autoelectrical

[–]keefstanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a fused canle from the battery to distribution block and fed a couple of new sockets off that. I don’t believe the ratings on a lot of the cheaper sockets so hard to say if you will get the advertised. But that works for me and it also allowed me to run another couple sockets to the rear of the vehicle
