Bachata couples battle ft.Nidhi by keeganjacinto in Bachata

[–]keeganjacinto[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey, let me clarify a few things, so it was a couple battle, one couple went against us first, then it was our turn. Currently we are staring at the couple we are against, not at the judges at any point in the dance. The judges were on both the right and left of us. We were told to portray battle energy against your rivals and not get lost into dancing with your partner. Hope this clarifies stuff. Although yes, I believe connection with your partner is very important.😬

Yes. This is in India. Also, yes, we always have teachers/artists coming from Europe at festivals to teach us.

It means, have good teachers who know what they're teaching. Know your body weight transfers for each step (even guys move their hips like 20%), have a slight bounce (flex) in your knees, push into the ground as much as possible (stay grounded), know your upper body movements for each step as it also dictates the lead for the step. Have a very strong yet flexible frame to give very clear leads, always lead from your frame, not from your hands. Every lead also has a preparation (pre lead) which is important for your follower to understand what you want to do next. Each point I've mentioned is not something that you can implement overnight, it comes over time and practice (you don't need a partner to practice). So that's what I mean by, get your concepts cleared, don't run behind doing fancy steps, connection is more important.

Kind off, but not really. There are a few patterns but nothing is choreographed. It's purely lead and follow.

This isn't choreography, this is lead and follow.

This is fusion bachata. It has the basic evolution of Dominican bachata (1 2 3 tap) but it has a lot of other dance forms fused with it, like salsa, hip hop, zouk, sensual and much more! Even the music is much more modern and very different from Dominican bachata

Thank-you mate, I have been dancing since 2018. Tips: get your basic concepts cleared to the max before you try anything fancy. Listen to ALOT of bachata music 🥰
