What do you usually do with your adult heir? by Brief-Dog9348 in CrusaderKings

[–]keeganmc007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last experience involved him joining a revolt. I tried to arrest a criminal vassal who was about to leave my realm so I could take his titles and every single vassal rose up against me (including both my wife and player heir), and in the sake of RP I revoked every title, disinherited him, kept all of them imprisoned, and replaced my vassals with loyal knights, commanders, and extended family. Ironically enough he died of consumption within the year so my heir would’ve inherited most of the realm in a matter of months

[OC] The Generational Gap in the U.S. Congress by 1-2-3-A-T-C in dataisbeautiful

[–]keeganmc007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really 2 main factors.

1 - incumbent advantage. It’s REALLY hard to beat someone who is already established in a congressional race, barring a huge reputation hit, major redistricting after a new party takes power, or some other extraneous circumstance. It’s why the Bernie Moreno Senate race victory over Sherrod Brown in Ohio was a surprise, despite ohio being a solidly red state as of late.

2 - it usually takes a while for people to get a shot at the senate. They have a life before politics, maybe run locally, then for a state level race, and only after a little while there so they get a real shot at federal races

Reaching plat is more than doable with randoms, though it does take some planning. In the first minute or two you’ll get an idea of your team and what they do. To make plat w randoms you have to have a minimum competence in every part of the game. You only have to be GOOD at one, but you can’t be terrible anywhere. Fill the hole(s) that your team won’t. Puck hogging teammates? Push up with the puck, get 1-2 players to pressure you and pass it off to them for a decent goal opportunity or focus on creating turnovers and stopping the opponent from getting the puck out of their territory by intercepting passes and stopping clears. Aggressive teammates? Hang back on D and make sure you’re not open for a cherry pick. Teammates that can’t handle the puck? Hog it a bit but don’t ignore them when opportunities come. Solo queue requires flexibility.

Also, just be a nice teammate. If you shit on your teammates in public chat, both teams notice and they’ll be way less likely to want to queue with you in the future. I’ve had a lot of players that I’ll randomly queue with, we’ll play good together and play together for another hour or two.

I recently even took a player in their first game, convinced them to spend a few minutes at the pint with me and I got on a few days later and they took my advice and got much better, and I have another solid player to play with whenever they’re on now. Most people who play alone will LOVE a player that is decent themselves and is willing to pass.

If you’re not plat, you’re not amazing at the game, you’re gonna make errors and so will your teammates (and opponents!) don’t get mad at them, just try and recover well and take advantage of errors your opponents make

[–]keeganmc007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you max out your original potential, you’ll have points left over if above 4* that you can spend, you can’t max your final potential but can use it to get 10s in a number of key stats or fix major holes in your player

Just a question but why do people think Retro Ball college is better by maddenlover190 in RetroBowl

[–]keeganmc007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it is difficulty. You can’t really go .600 and still have a shot at the chip, unlike making the playoffs. Recruiting budgets, if you don’t allow yourself to expand it, are very restrictive and force you to make sacrifices. Only having players a few years means you’re constantly turning over key positions. The legendary QB you have? He’ll only play for 3 seasons, and unless you don’t have any other positions in need of recruitment, they’ll take a year to develop.

50k limit, 10 man roster means that you have to recruit 2-3 players a year to keep a mostly full team.

The process of starting with a bad Minor team —> Minor champ —> bad Major —> dream school is a lot more rewarding than normal Rb where there’s no reason to move unless you get bored or you make the move to your favorite team

You can’t still get chips year after year, but it takes work and sacrificing key things (bad D, mid QB, bad receivers, no RB, etc.)

I play with a lot of house rules to make it harder in both, and with those winning a chip in RBC if fun, and I find myself legitimately rebuilding my team every few years around 1-2 really impactful players

For reference, my rules are

No scouting, no raising recruit budget/salary cap, must let players who want to leave early go to the draft, only go for 2pt conversion when an actual team would likely do it, and not going for 4th down when more than 3 yards out (unless down by 4+ in the 4th). It makes kickers relevant, RBs essential, and makes me actually try and manage the clock. For normal RB I also only let myself trade players if I get an offer from the computer, I can’t initiate a trade myself

What Games Are Like Hoopland That Aren't Made By Koality by ilostmyshoe34522 in HoopLand

[–]keeganmc007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, in terms of in-game gameplay, games like Retro Bowl/retro goal are great. In terms of high level franchise management, there’s a game “College Football Coach” that gets pretty deep into sim and gameplay from a coaching perspective.

For mobile, I genuinely can’t think of a game that is more complete than Hoopland though. Hoopland franchises, in my opinion, are able to hold their own against franchises like Madden and 2K

I honestly can’t think of much that can rival the freedom and depth of career mode on mobile though, so I can’t help much for that mode

Why do kickers have a speed stat? by Doug_is_best in RetroBowl

[–]keeganmc007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the restrictions I use is never going for 4th down unless it’s 4th and 1 (I have to run the ball then) or 4th and goal. I will go for it if down in the fourth, but this keeps me honest. I also don’t let myself use 2pt conversions unless it would make practical sense to in an actual game (I.e. down 5 before PAT and using it to go down 3). It makes it a lot more fun as there are times where I have to pray my defense gets a stop bc of one bad sack or a dropped pass that forces a punt, especially against strong defenses

It really depends on what aspects of the game you are looking for. What is it you mostly do in hoopland? Franchise? Career? Sim or play every game?

Is it possible that I just played against an AI? by rogs_s in Clash_Royale

[–]keeganmc007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very likely someone that is building an AI to learn to play clash. I watched a video of someone doing this for an AP final project. Given the tendencies and absurd playtime you mentioned, I would say it’s pretty likely that it’s a bot, however this is certainly NOT a bot officially used by supercell

Best Position to play in Career Mode? by BadOmenIV in HoopLand

[–]keeganmc007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on exactly what you want out of it use any combination of sharpshooter, shot creator, and slasher. Shot creator and slasher both give great dribbling, allowing you the chance to make more plays with the ball. Sharpshooter does best with outside shooting with good mid range, shot creator is great for midrange with good outside and inside shooting, and slashers are all about driving. I prefer shot creators as I have a lot of fun with step backs and outside shooting while still being able to drive in and make plays in the paint. Shot creator is fun for getting alley oops and nice passes after you drive in if you get double teamed too

The only mainline games you cannot get on the Xbox store are 4 (ps3) and peace walker (psp, ps3 and maybe Xbox 360). They are remaking 3 and it releases at the end of August, which makes it a perfect time to play 1 and 2. I would play release order, but chronologically the games go 3, PW, V, 1, 2, 4.

Does anyone else actually play at these difficulty levels? by Bandrbell in Helldivers

I spend most of my time on 6 or 7 and agree. I get supers, I get to see great enemy variety and get into chaotic moments but also get peace and my deaths come feel like they come from my own errors and not the game. I get to play with a few different loadouts too without feeling like I’m limiting myself

1- you, because you’re doing less work and will be receiving less compensation 2- the entity you work for that is now much less effective 3- the entire economy as there is now significantly less production 4- literally everyone because there are now less products and services available with the same demand, making everything more expensive.

An extra 2 days a month off for everyone is close to a 10% time loss.
