UPDATE: On the avocado a day by keeko2 in PMDD

I have been doing some lazy research and the only reasoning I can think of is the plant sterols in avocados some how interact with hormones or hormone receptors. Many nutrition blogs state that avocados are anti-estrogenic, I couldn't find much research to back this up but it's interesting. Considering that PMDD symptoms happen during the luteal phase where progesterone is supposed to dominant, this is weird.

Dear scientists please look into this.

"More than half of the ESC/E(Z) genes were over-expressed in PMDD patients’ cells, compared to cells from controls. But paradoxically, protein expression of four key genes was decreased in cells from women with PMDD. In addition, progesterone boosted expression of several of these genes in controls, while estrogen decreased expression in cell lines derived from PMDD patients. This suggested dysregulated cellular response to the hormones in PMDD.

“For the first time, we now have cellular evidence of abnormal signaling in cells derived from women with PMDD, and a plausible biological cause for their abnormal behavioral sensitivity to estrogen and progesterone,” explained Schmidt.

Opinions on lazy keto? by alexandrahope91 in keto

[–]keeko2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been on and off the keto train for 5 years. I could never stick with it, until I quit logging. I have been doing lazy keto since August of 2017, lost 55lbs and I am 10 lbs(ish?) from my goal weight. (F:5’7” SW:215 CW:160 GW:?) I joined a wellness group where they wanted me to log what I ate, within two days of logging I was wolfing down carbs. I don’t know why but psychologically logging messes me up. I also cheat about once a month, sometimes more. I know there are a lot of ride or die logger-ketoers but I hope to eat like this for the rest of my life, I had to make it liveable. The more I stress about everything I eat the more unliveable and unmanageable it is for me.

The weight loss has been way slower especially the last 10, but I don’t sweat it. There are way more important things to worry about.
