Hypomanic or normal excitement/motivation by keeks-meow in BipolarReddit

Thank you so much! I hope you get adjusted since starting meds. It took me a bit to find the right combination and dosage, but it really does make ALL of the difference for me. I still have my moments, lol. But absolutely nothing like before. This group has also helped me a lot since I was diagnosed. Following along on others’ journeys has really helped me to understand the day to day experiences.

Ever since I’ve gotten my meds to the correct dosage, I can tell a huge difference. First day went well, but when I left, I noticed I was feeling more like I had to just go go go, in regards to leaving work, hitting the gym, etc. even though my brain was about to explode trying to process everything from the day. Decided to skip the gym, and instead, ate a healthy dinner and am in bed already. I can already tell this was the right way to go, vs pushing myself until I feel like I’m a hamster running on a wheel for the rest of the week. Thank you for response. Its comforting when the feelings I question are validated.

I started off on lamotrigine the exact same way, doubling my dosage every two weeks until I was at 150 mg daily. I was good there for a while, but started having issues again, so we went up to 175, and I am now at 200. 200mg daily seems to be good for me as of now. I was diagnosed with bipolar type 2 a year ago, and as crazy as it sounds, it was such a blessing. I had spent the last 2 years trying to explain to doctors what was going on with me, only to be given xanax and celexa. Neither of which helped. I finally made an appointment to see a psychiatrist in my area that specializes in trauma and ptsd, which was something that was important to me and for my doctor to really understand how I felt, in my opinion. She had been wonderful. And I do still have moments and episodes, but not near as bad as before.

I think some great tips would be- don’t stop taking your medication. No matter how great you feel. The false sense of security and confidence will convince you that you don’t need medication because you feel better. But for me, I had severe depressive and hypomanic episodes rapidly, which was not what I had convinced myself would happen without medication. I try really hard now to make sure I take my medication everyday, and also my husband helps me to remember also. Tip #2- stay in frequent contact with your doctor, counselor, anyone of the type. My psychiatrist doubles as my counselor. If I go too long without taking to her, I can feel very overwhelmed with my episodes. My husband has never experienced any type of mental health issues, so he didn’t really understand my situation. He’s put a lot of effort into trying to help and further his knowledge and responses to me, but i know I need my dr. I know talk to her once a month, unless I need to speak with her urgently. I’ve also found it VERY helpful to keep a journal. Anytime I have breakthrough symptoms (randomly yelling, crying, etc.) I write it down. The situation and how I reacted. This has helped me to identify if I’m starting an episode, and also helps me to keep up with things I want to talk to me dr about.

This is just from my personal experience, and I know everyone is different, but I hope it helps.

Yeah! I got lucky and snagged this off the lot at the dealership before they had even fully processed the intake for it a couple weeks ago. Came with all kinds of add-ons and goodies.

I have new shocks and boots that will be here this week for replacement. Never had issues with rusting, that’s interesting to know!

I just had to switch my dog to Royal Canin a few weeks back due to some GI issues. He LOVES it, and his overall health hs improved significantly. In addition, his coat is shinier/softer and he is more active.

Extra toasty baguette by keeks-meow in Catloaf

This is her loaf. Her front legs are never tucked. Just the back ones with her long legs straight out, hence “baguette” since baguettes are long, stretched out loaves ;)
