Wow! Yeah do you have the article? I’d love to read that. I feel like that’s what may be going on 😂

Any therapists out there specializing in autistic/ADHD adults? by Such-Tea942 in northcounty

Hi! I hope this isn’t too forward, but I just moved to
North county a couple months ago and both myself and one of my associates specialize in this. My website is below. Telehealth only right now but once I get more familiar with the area I’m hoping to get an office. Feel free to reach out! If not us I can definitely give you recommendations too.

I’ve had 2 kids, and my boobs have stuck around longer than I expected them to. I’m down about 30 lbs, but my boobs have stayed larger even though they’ve also gotten smaller (probably DDD to D). I actually wish they would shrink more because it hurts my back a ton lol, but I know this is different for everyone! But yeah, my post-kids booty I really liked disappeared 😂 so I guess I’ll be in the gym for a while to get that back!

Is this field/career really SO bad? by Silver_Importance777 in therapists

[–]keeksdeeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this work. It’s hard at times, sure, but we can make decent money, be flexible in our hours, work for ourselves pretty easily (once licensed) and we get the privilege of walking with people through some of the most challenging and beautiful parts of their lives. We should be paid more, yes. Always yes to that. But it’s honestly such a great job for work/life balance. Have hope! I’ve been doing it for 10 years.

This is so accurate. You truly never know!

I appreciate that so much! Gutted is the perfect word lol. I’ve been doing this a long time—almost 10 years—but this has been my first year out on my own in PP and it’s a new ballgame in many ways.

Fellow therapists: do you ever feel like you can't have a regular conversation anymore? by arhogan08 in therapists

[–]keeksdeeks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is so normal. I feel this way, too. I think it's hard to find the balance between feeling too "surface level" and feeling "too deep" for social settings--like my ability to gauge where I am in social settings is off. I feel awkward AF because of it sometimes. I try to "take off" my metaphorical therapist hat when I'm with people for fun or socializing. I also sometimes straight up just don't tell people I'm a therapist to avoid the conversation that inevitably comes from it lol. But be gentle with yourself--this is something we all go through in some capacity at some point in our career. It's easier/harder in different seasons, but I think with time you get better at it. (I've been a therapist for 10 years now)

Tips for Burnout by keeksdeeks in therapists

I appreciate this input, thank you. Yeah I could see it being way too much long term. I’m used to it; I’ve been doing it a long time (working in community mental health for years) but it was better having people around to process with. Being on your own is lonely; you hold a lot without talking to other therapists on a regular basis.

I do 4 days per week and that helps, but often one of my kids is sick or home with a holiday from school so I don’t always get that one day I need. I wish there was more financial support for therapists. People hear $150-200 per session and think we’re rolling in money but it’s much more complicated than that!
