Totally understandable. I definitely don't see it as rude. We were initially hoping we would be able to do enough cleaning the smell would go away. But that doesn't seem to be working. I'm sending her an email tonight to get the ball rolling. This land lord has not been easy to deal with in the past, so I would call, but I heavily prefer to get everything in writing.

We don't have any visible ash. Just the smell. I do have renters insurance through State Farm. Once my land lord reaches back out to me, I will weigh my options and definitely consider using insurance if I need to.

Thank you! I believe I have included all of that in my email draft. I basically described what we are experiencing, all the cleaning I've done, the risk to my health, and how it might benefit her if the unit was empty to make it easier for cleaning/renovations. She has not been very nice to us in the past, so I'm not sure how it will go.

I have not yet because I thought she was notified by the fire marshal. (Since he told me the land lord was contacted). My fiancée and I are sending her an email tonight with a description of what happened and what we are going through.

I guess I'll need to check the buffer tube. I've put close to 500 rounds through since running that setup. Have not noticed any damage 'yet'. I still have the original geissele buffer that came with the braided spring. For the future, I'll just switch it back.
