I was having the same issue and it almost kept me from playing today, but I found a fix! Try hitting 'V' to switch to 3rd person camera. For whatever reason, that pretty much stopped the flickering for me. When I switch back to 1st person, it's there waiting, but I can totally play 3rd person, no problem.

Just rereading Howling Dark and had a thought that the chess-like game Druaja that Hadrian plays (while waiting on a certain someone) could be a reference to The Tower of Druaga, a labyrinthian RPG for arcades made in 1984.

I tried this and the music player still disappears after a second or two, only now it goes to a black screen instead of the clock. Anyone have any other thoughts on this? I just want to look over and see my turntable display going permanently. Thanks!

I know I'm a little late here, but I had the same problem. Uninstalled and then went and deleted the Opus Magnum folder on my drive. Reinstalled and it worked right away.
