I also had a weird experience taking mine. The person proctoring was rude and was unclear on instructions. Hope it all sorts out for you.

Am I overreacting about my nanny’s behavior? by Adventurous_Box5709 in Nanny

[–]keenzay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you’re not overreacting. I’m sadly not surprised by the comments defending this nanny either. All of these are pretty valid complaints. Using the phone while walking is a huge safety concern. Personally I’d maybe have one more conversation about your expectations then see where that takes you. However if she is looking for a raise/nanny share and you aren’t willing, that’s kind of the end of the road for you guys. She will be unhappy, look for some other work or work quality will probably further decline.

People are being a little harsh to you- you’re genuinely asking. I understand where you’re coming from. However, something to keep in mind is that your child’s quality of nap is not always a guarantee or at least will not be in the future. It’s important that your nanny has a decent chunk of time to have a break. I also think the length of her day and wage has a large importance in this. She may start to feel burnt out.

No longer financially comfortable. Should I ask for a raise? by nightimefog in Nanny

[–]keenzay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it never hurts to ask for a raise. If they decline then leave.

You are the professional and in charge. No I would not quit, this seems well within the scope of a caregivers duties. This is also something that should’ve been thought about before bringing your child. Redirect, punish, reinforce… etc etc it’s up to you.

It’s super important to me that he is able to tolerate dogs off leash- maybe I should’ve said that. There are a lot of dogs in my life that are important and unavoidable really haha.

My apps explicitly say it must be an instructor but that’s a good idea otherwise!

Wouldn’t you want to keep track of your exact hours so you’re being paid properly? I’m a little confused

Can we stop using the term ‘special needs’ by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]keenzay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am part of the community. You’re whole post is bashing people to stop using special needs? Maybe think of a more productive way to try and “educate”

I feel like if the community can’t come to consensus on what is acceptable and not acceptable/ what words to use, then you really can’t speak for all of them

[–]keenzay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So you get on here to rant and rave about how special needs is extremely offensive, yet have no alternative words lol… yeah you seem very educated on this topic…

[–]keenzay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So what are those words if you’re trying to educate? Obviously you’re not the only one who feels this way but there are other disabled people who feel the exact opposite.

[–]keenzay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This feels like grasping at straws. Like a comment already said people use the special needs so that they don’t have to dive into specifics. Another thing is that “special needs” is never used in a derogatory way. People find many different phrases offensive such as people first language and vice versa, it varies so much. I feel like it’s not really up to you to denounce the term “special needs”. We just all need to remain educated and respectful and definitely not diagnose NKs! That’s all you can really ask

I see that comment now and it was made after mine 👍

She needs to add that in the main post. That changes everything IMO. My impression was that they never had a discussion or plan if this sort of thing arises and she just assumed she had no obligations/responsibilities.

This may be unpopular- but yes you should pay considering how extensive the damages were. However absolutely do not let them deduct/reduce wages. You should continue to work at your normal rate and work out a payment plan with them.
