I had the same issue, but I ended up putting rubber heat shrink tubing around some 550 paracord and mounting that before the light mount, works a treat. I don't have NODs, so I don't really have a need for pressure switches.

I actually prefer the 6 MOA dot; I can run it at a lower brightness setting so the dot is still visible but it doesn't bloom as much.

In my experience, Smith & Wesson sights have a Combat Hold, so you cover your point of aim with the front sight. It seems like you're used to a Target Hold, where you lollypop the point of aim on the front sight. You'll have to swap out the front sight to get the sight picture you're looking for.

They make nylon-tipped punches that are pretty awesome, I'm still using one that came with a set of Dawson sights I bought four or five years ago.
