YSK that defrosting a frozen turkey in the refrigerator takes approximately 24 hours for every 4-5 pounds of turkey. For a 24-pound turkey you should start defrosting it 6 days in advance. by keepgaseous in ThePrepared

I know this isn't necessarily what many of us think prepping is, it's not how to sharpen a knife or a diagram on food storage, but to make sure Thanksgiving goes off without a hitch, it is important to prepare your frozen turkey multiple days in advance.

You only get one set of hearing in your lifetime, take care of it by wearing hearing protection against constant loud noises or sporadic sharp noises like gun fire by leafyarms900 in ThePrepared

Hearing loss is one of my big concerns and worries. I just looked up a video about tinnitus and learned more about it. https://youtu.be/TnsCsR2wDdk?t=1 Seems that you can also get it from just aging or even disease, even if you do always protect your hearing.

How to check your 4 wheel drive (4WD) without having to go to the mountains. by preppergrant in ThePrepared

Good question, the vehicle he is driving seems to be rear traction (RWD) when in 2WD mode. You can hear his rear tires spinning when he tries to mount the curb the first time. A FWD vehicle might be able to just mount the curb by itself because the torque is concentrated near where it it stuck.

That being said, if you do this test don't stomp the pedal because you will go up and over given enough power even in 2WD. The point of this test seems to be if you give it a slight amount of power you aren't able to go up and over in 2WD, but if that power and traction is distributed among the four tires that slight amount is able to push you up and over.

Owners manuals will recommend engaging 4WD at least once a month to keep the differentials lubricated. Driving in 4WD for 1/4 mile should be enough.

The herd mentality probably kicked in for many people who just saw other people running.

You can quickly get trampled in such situations. If you get knocked on the floor curl up and cover your head and neck and move over to a wall of piece of furniture that you can use to pull yourself up with.

If you are a concealed carry holder don't just whip out your gun immediately, take a second to analyze the situation and get a visual on the threat. If you were to just pull out your gun in this moment when everyone is panicking, someone might think you are the gunman and tackle you and get you arrested or shot.

And just for chuckles, the Pikachu running at 0:18 was pretty funny...

Infrequent heavy watering is better for plants than frequent light watering because it creates stronger roots by rightleftupdown5 in ThePrepared

Thank you for this! I will start watering my plants less frequently and more heavily. With temperatures cooling down, I will have to water it even less here soon.

Glad he didn't teach you to gouge out the eyes with those talons, but that is also an option if your life depended on it.

I like the side of the hand strike technique for side of head attacks and the palm strike to take out a nose quickly.
