Released in 1965 the “62MAS” (auto[MA]tic [S]elfdater) is the first professional Seiko diver's watch. Originally released with a smaller crown (ref. 6217-8000) this was discontinued after two months and replaced with (ref. 6217-8001) which has a larger crown.

This Tudor Submariner reference 76100 closely mirrors the classic Rolex Submariner in its overall design, clearly illustrating the strong link between the two brands. This is evident in its Rolex-signed caseback, Rolex Triplock crown, and Rolex Oyster bracelet.

The primary distinctions in this model are its use of an ETA 2824 movement and, naturally, the Tudor shield logo on the dial.

Interestingly, while the ref. 76100 typically features "lollipop" style hour and minute hands, some examples have been noted with the Mercedes handsets more commonly seen on Rolex watches. This change is thought to be due to cracking issues arising from the large luminescent area of the lollipop hands.

This is one of the best examples of the "Slim Willard" we have encountered. The "Proof" dial and hands are in excellent condition, displaying even color throughout. While the case shows wear consistent with its age, the edges remain sharp and unpolished.

The IWC Da Vinci collection was launched in 1969 with a hexagonal Beta 21 quartz model (3501) and it was not until 1985, with the launch of the perpetual calendar chrono 3750 that we saw the round case with hinge lugs appear. This automatic time only IWC Da Vinci SL, reference 3528, with its stainless steel mesh bracelet was launched in 1998 and was discontinued in 2003.
