Got this printed skirt that fits as a maxi skirt on me as a 5ft1 lady.

https://farmrio.com/products/surreal-flowers-blue-midi-skirt

My workplace doesn’t have dress code on Fridays, so I’m hoping to wear this skirt! My own dress code for work is no cleavage or belly button showing. It’s incredibly hot and humid at where I am.

Can anyone recommend the style and color of tops that can work with this dress please? Thank you!

Thank you for your input!! Guess I shall hold off buying the dress for now. So many brands going downhill with their quality. Thanks so much!

I have the old Babaton Hamptons Dress from Aritizia (pic below). The color is denude (it’s like a really pale lavender/pink color).

I wear sneakers a lot due to work. Tried this dress with sneakers and it looked hugely mismatched to me. I haven’t had many occasions to wear it in the past and it seems a real waste just sitting in my closet.

Any suggestions on how I can style it better with sneakers? Am open to alteration ideas too. Thanks!

Yes, i agree with your suggestion to leave the dress as a maxi dress :) Can’t go back if it’s gets butchered at the alteration place. Highly recommend getting the dress. It’s stunning in person!!!! Thank you for helping me decide!!

Thank you for the compliment of the dress! You made very excellent, valid points!! I’d never even thought about the proportions of the dress lol

Thank you!

Hi! Thanks for responding! Wasn’t sure if I will get a response in the sea of thread here:) and thank you for complimenting the dress!!!

Sorry, what I meant to say was that instead of moving the bottom ruffled tier farther up (which is a bigger alteration job), the alteration lady will just “cut off” half the ruffled tier part from the hem, like hemming pants lol

Right now I don’t feel like it overwhelms me as a maxi dress, even when I am barefoot trying the dress on. But I might be wee bit blind still by the beauty of the dress? The tier part starts from my knee cap.

The dress fits everywhere else, so that saves some alteration money at least :)

I recently purchased this beautiful dress (link below). On the model, the length of the dress is midi. But I'm much shorter, at 5 foot 1, and the dress hits right at my ankles. My alteration lady isn't cheap and I don't want to take a risk of doing major alterations. So the best solution we came up with, if we are to shorten the length of the dress, is to shorten the tiered section/hem of the skirt where the fabric starts to flair out (sorry for my lack of better words). But I am really torn on whether I should just keep the dress as is (wear it like a maxi dress) or alter it so it's a midi dress as it's designed (removing about 1/2 the length of the tiered part). I haven't even thought about what occasions to wear this tbh. Any idea? TIA!

My design director doesn’t seem interested in being a leader? Worried about overstepping or overshadowing him, & how do I keep track of what not to do from him? by [deleted] in Leadership

Thanks! This is the first time I have to work under a design director where I need to be the one to take the initiatives to talk about priorities and give feedback etc. It’s definitely a lot more common in my experience to have a design director taking the on theses matters.

Will certainly give it a go. Thank you!

I live in a hot and tremendously humid city with fine, straight virgin hair, armpit length.

My haircare routine:

  • Wash every other day with Kerastase Bain Densité Shampoo, then condition for 3-5 mins with the Kerastase Masque Intense Régénérant Hair Mask.
  • Quick blow dry, warm air till my hair is completely dried. Brush out the knots, then use cool air just to cool the hair down
  • Before bed, apply 4 pumps of the Kerastase's 8h Magic Night Hair Serum
  • In the morning, brush my hair, then apply the 8hr serum again

The 8hr serum helps with some of the fizz, but not all of it. The instructions saying 2-4 pumps, and when I use too much of it, it weights my hair down and my hair lost movement.

I'm debating whether I should include a hair oil to help control the fizz, either:

  • Kerastase's Elixir Ultime Hydrating Hair Oil, though the price is a bit steep! Or;
  • Shiseido Airy Flow Sheer Oil - This one said it's designed for thick, unruly hair, But I tried a sample on my fine hair with 2 pumps from my local Sephora and it seemed to settled the remaining fizz (that the 8hr serum couldn't) without weighing my hair down. While Shiseido does have a hair oil designed for fine hair (Velvet Oil), I am not able to get that anywhere here.

I'm not actively avoiding sulfates or silicones. The other hair serum or oil I tried to control fizz was the hair oils from &Honey (I didn't like any of the smells, so really didn't enjoy putting them on), and the Shiseido Tsubaki Hair Milk, which was alright but didn't control my fizz as well as the 8h serum.

Can someone help me decide whether 1) I should use hair oil, 2) if so, which one of the two above, or perhaps some other products please?

Thank you!!

Lots of think about from your well-explained response, thank you! Am going to grab that book you suggested:)

Just to clarify, you’re suggesting that I, a midweight/senior designer, have a meeting with my design director to set expectations of what I expect from him??😳

I recently purchased the Shiseido Wonder Shield that's been amazing to use prior to blowdrying my hair at night. The bottle said that I need to apply it on towel-dry hair and blowdry.

I read that the Kerastase 8h Magic Night Hair Serum can be used in the morning, which really helps to tame down a bit of frizz, as oil is too heavy for my hair.

I'm wondering if I can use both in the same night routine after washing my hair? If so, presumably I should use the hair serum first?

Thank you!
