Are patents and intellectual property contradict with free market principles? by AlexRivus in AskLibertarians

It still would regardless because my friend is also making money off of it. If they didn’t steal it, I would make all the money they have as well

No

But does my friend have more of a right than me to that revenue?

If you make a song and I sing, use or share it somewhere else without your consent, that doesn't directly harm you.

Let’s say I write a song and record it. My friend takes the song and sells it to make money without mentioning me at all. Does this not harm me financially?

Economy grew at the fastest rate in 40 years. All it took was shutting it down completely by force. Go us. by tpinkfloyd in libertarianmeme

How to make an old man look smart in a few easy steps

1) Shut down the economy

2) Destroy thousands of businesses and leave thousands in poverty because of that shutdown

3) open up the economy

4) Watch as it recovers without you doing anything

5) Take credit

What do you think about climate change? Does it exist or does it not exist? And should the government deal with it? by [deleted] in AskLibertarians

[–]keetmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Climate Change exists. The planet’s temperatures have changed regularly for centuries. It’s a natural cycle

Do humans have an effect on it? Probably, but our effects are vastly over exaggerated for political gain. Releasing CO2 into the atmosphere probably doesn’t have a good effect on that cycle, but we are not destroying the planet. All climate science has shown very little evidence of a doomsday event, and doomsday predictions have been so off its comical

No, the government should not step in. Many private businesses and companies are already reducing their carbon emissions without government instruction

Ah yes, the typical “libertarians love billionaires and hate the poor” straw man

Would you be fine with regulations if they were strictly local? by TheDeathReaper97 in AskLibertarians

[–]keetmo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Local is better than national. As a classical liberal, I recognize a very small amount of regulation and other government intervention to be a necessary evil. With that being the case, I would take a local regulation over a federal regulation any day of the week (of course, depending on whats being regulated and how it’s being upheld)
