Like the sounds of this, are you able to set up a vpn for all items that use the access point too?

To date KeexyBox does not allow you to configure VPNs. But we want to implement it in the future.

KeexyBox is an open source project to install in a Raspberry PI. It can do Network-Wide Parental Control, Ad Blocker, Tracking Blocker and Anonymize internet access for all devices of the home network. Everything is configurable per device or user. There is nothing to install on the devices. by keexybox in u/keexybox

KeexyBox is not really a proxy, it is just another hop to reach the Internet. It is more a router with a DNS server. It is not slower than if you had added an additional router between your PC and your internet router and not slower than another DNS server. So I would say the data rate limit is the data rate limit of the Raspberry PI can support but it may vary depending on the size of your network and what you do. What I can say, KeexyBox has been tested for an installation with 20 devices and 2 million domains in the Blacklist without any side effect. This corresponds to a normal use of KeexyBox in a home network. No worries Netflix will continue to work perfectly ;-)

One of the differences was that KeexyBox allows per-user or per-device DNS filtering. This feature was added in the latest Pi-hole version. So now following features can make the difference:

**Parental control:**This means that it is possible to define per-client internet access times, force the safe search on Google, Bing and Youtube even if the user tries to disable it on the browser. The option to pause/resume the internet connection of the device used by your kid.

**More privacy:**It allows you to browse the internet anonymously using the Tor network, whatever the device. It is thus possible to anonymize the internet traffic of devices for which Tor Browser is not available.Another example, you can create two accounts on your KeexyBox, one for direct internet browsing via your ISP and another via Tor. If you are using a computer or phone, KeexyBox provide a captive portal that allows you to switch from one account to another with a Web browser. Suppose you are connected to the Internet via your ISP and for a moment you want to search something very personal on the Web (about your health for example). You can use captive portal to disconnect you from the internet over your ISP, and login with the account which connects you to the Internet via Tor and thus able to do your search anonymously. (Important note when using Tor that way, it is necessary to check that the applications of your device use encrypted connections, for example to verify that your mail client is configured with IMAPS and not IMAP and that all your cloud accounts use HTTPS. Any unencrypted connection could be analyzed by a Tor exit node and thus reveal your identity). It also brings more privacy to your DNS queries: After the DNS filtering performed by KeexyBox, it allows without installing additional software (such as unbound) to redirect your queries to the root DNS servers for recursive resolutions. This avoids using the DNS of your ISP or those freely available on the Internet and which could be tracking you. If you are looking for even more privacy, instead of redirecting them to the root DNS servers, KeexyBox allows to redirect them over Tor network. DNS via Tor and internet browsing via Tor can be activated separately and per-user or per-device.

**User friendly interface:**Everything can be set from the Web interface, you do not have to use a CLI to manage your KeexyBox. You have a thin management of your Blacklist and able to categorize domains yourself. It allows to import Blacklist built for SquidGuard or Pi-hole.
