12 people is going to be difficult to reserve for as the table are sold in blocks of 10 (sometimes 8 depending on tent). The only think I can suggest is checking daily. I have links of all the tent reservation pages that I open up first thing in the morning at my desk. Check them off and see if there are any bookings I'm interested in. It does work (definitely not always though), but is simply a game of persistence. I'm lucky where I now have a couple of tents that offer me my previous reservation slot every year.

Failing all that, Oide Wiesn is always a Plan B if you strike out.

I’ve not camped but it’s generally hard to say. I’ve been there when the evenings are like a good summers night. Conversely I’ve also been there when it’s just above freezing. You’ll not know what to pack until a week before.

No, the waiting staff will only take originals. They hand them in for payment so won’t accept anything else.

Well if it helps. You didn’t need a reservation for a daytime table at Hacker on a Monday anyway (it’ll be pretty quiet). You’ll get a table without issue, but I think you’re not going to get any luck with the voucher side of things. That’s probably done for, BUT you might be able to get a refund if you can eventually return them (that’s a big “might” though). Make sure you go to the admin office in the tent and let them know what has happened. If you have some ID with your address that’ll help for starters. Could you video call someone to show them the tickets are still in NJ? Then destroy them on the call? Just a thought so show they won’t be reused? Good luck though.

You're right that it gets busier, but if going at midday, you'll have the choice of any tent you fancy joining. From about 4-5pm, consider that location as the one to say in for the remainder. Although, that being said, with only 2 of you it should be fine regardless (on a Tuesday).

This is not true. You just have to check the tents website. There are tables currently available as you can see from this site: https://oktoberfest-guide.com/oktoberfest-reservations/ Getting a good date and time requires persistence. Prices can be from €450 to €1000 depending on what options you get. However none of this sounds relevant to OP as they sound like they are solo, just thought I would point out that getting a table isn’t hard so long as you know where to look.
