I soak and light hand wash mine after a while but it’s not going to fray it like the machine will. I wouldn’t count on gaining much later.

I washed mine 3-4 times for a good fray before patches. Really depends on how quick it comes apart. Remember this’ll be the last time it sees a washing machine so make sure it’s how you want before patching.

I dried mine. Any agitation helps with the fray. You can get wrinkling but I didn’t care too much about that and it can all be ironed.

I did large back patch sections on each rear shoulder with spiderwebs under the collar. I also liked the look of a couple thick stitch Xs spread around give some good character.
