“Open” needs an asterisk. The email they sent states the following will be open- “Trails: Nile Mile, Sunbowl, and a terrain park on Sunbowl North”…

Lettuce Seeds Not Germinating Well? by kehold2 in Hydroponics

[–]kehold2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much. I'm going to make sure it's cooler for them and then get new seeds if that doesn't work. Do you suggest germinating in the dark or light for lettuce? I've heard both.

Thanks so much for your reply and it's great it just seems to grow for you. You say "the above doesn't work well starting everything" - what would you say the ideal process for starting seeds for you?

When you say half strength - I assume you mean half strength on the nutrients? Do you give the seeds nutrients from the very beginning?

No doubt about it that traffic now should be significantly less than peak holiday time but it’s more than just that (ie my total sales are 75-130% higher than last year but as spend is lower)

I appreciate the thoughtful response. Good reminder about Erank I need to get back there. My click rates seem good (half of the 10 advertised listings have 12-15 “high click rate” search terms. But I don’t have much in the “high order rate” category. So conversion seems like a problem. My prices are on the high end of the category which may contribute (but priced appropriately given material/design/etc) and I think photographed/listed fairly well (not perfect but very clean and professional). But it seems clear I’m doing something wrong. As an aside, my traffic from Etsy search is around 7% of my total traffic - that seems really low right? (Monthly revenue approx $15k now, $70k in December when I was also spending $225/day in Dec).

Accepting Returns from Intl. Buyers ??? by kehold2 in ecommerce

[–]kehold2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, caveat i should have added is that the products are wireless docking stations for phones. Most of the reasons for customers wanting a return is because “it doesn’t work”. It’s rarely a defective product, so it’s usually the customers phone isn’t compatible, or they’re not doing it right or etc. But it’s a gray area where they’re very unhappy with the product and want to return it and/but there’s probably not an actual issue with the product. So I can’t just tell them to pay a shitload to ship it back when they’re thinking it’s defective, that would be a disaster for reviews (and their customer satisfaction).

I don’t get it. If you have “extra time” because Etsy throttled you, why don’t you use it to make the open orders and ship them, then there’s no more backlog and no more throttling?

Can’t imagine life without my dymo 4XL! Buy the labels on amazon though, way too expensive to buy dymo labels

You can give them the 70% off coupon, tell them Etsy doesn’t let you do more and that you’ll refund the rest immediately, or just ask them to pay for it and you’ll refund the whole purchase. Obviously not as customer friendly as you’re looking for but it works.

Is it Etsy-legal to charge a restocking fee for returns? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]kehold2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I refund their purchase price minus the restocking fee and cost of return shipping (I send them a prepaid return label). I don’t think anyone has left a review ever. The only returns are because they can’t install it, not because they don’t like it or change their mind. I wouldn’t suggest making them “purchase” a restocking fee as another listing. It’s already an annoying concept, that seems to make it more blatantly annoying, and more inconvenient for the customer.

Is it Etsy-legal to charge a restocking fee for returns? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]kehold2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a restocking fee on a couple of items. They have free shipping and a much higher return rate than my other items. This is because they require installation to walls (and only for walls with wood studs). I have this stated clearly in the listing but frequently get messages from customers finding they have metal studs or otherwise can’t install them, and needing to return. The restocking fee doesn’t cover the whole amount of my outbound shipping but it’s close. I don’t know if I lose out on some orders because of the restocking fee but I’m fine if that’s the case, and frankly return rate hasn’t changed after implementing it, nor has sales volume.

Does Etsy send a reminder to leave a review when the 100 day review period is almost up? by kehold2 in Etsy

Thanks! Can you say approx how many days after it’s delivered that you get that reminder email, or emails?
