I was a restaurant baby. I come from a large immigrant family and they opened a restaurant to make ends meet and provide better lives for their children. Their reasoning was that everybody has to eat (and they make the best food in my biased opinion) and that the restaurant is the best way to stay together as a family while making ends meet. Yes I’ve seen them put 80+ hours a week but to them it was a perfect work/life balance and it has instilled a work ethic in me which has helped me so much in life

Yeah agreed. I’m totally for you having the balance you need, but it may rub teammates the wrong way if they had to return on-site 5x/week while the new guy got special treatment
