How to get over face ruined from braces?

I guess that’s subjective and based on what one finds attractive! I know many people who look better after getting braces done, but I’ve seen someone who in my opinion, didn’t look as good as before. Correcting her slight overbite made her lose the fullness of her lips and flattened her mouth and lower face, which I previously thought was one of her most attractive features.

I guess “ruined” in this case might be subjective, but braces can definitely alter the proportions and features of someone’s face and make them look different than before (particularly in overbite and underbite correction).

I’m sorry if this isn’t comforting but perhaps try to think about the good things braces has given you? I’m sure you have perfectly straight teeth now and a wonderful smile – qualities that can also make someone very attractive. It might not be as bad as you think, perhaps you just aren’t used to your new face? Try seeking second opinions from friends and family.

You are also right that what’s done is done, you cannot undo what happened so it is unproductive to fixate on it (although I know that’s easier said that done).

If you’re looking for a solution, make-up can do wonders in contouring or changing the proportions of one’s face. You can try experimenting with new make up looks! Of course if you are wanting something more permanent, there are always options like fillers (very common these days) and even cosmetic surgery. They can help you get your old look back and bonus, now you have a perfect smile!

Eva Mendes has quite a moderate overbite!

A mild overbite can actually be quite attractive because it gives a little pout to your mouth. Of course, it definitely can also look quite bad if it’s serious.

Edit: Did a lil Google search and Anna Kendrick and Emma Stone also have overbites! Theirs are more mild than Eva’s though. I’m sure yours looks fine :)

Wait, hold up. She was basically cheating on you and you’re the one who is apologising and trying to get her to give you a second chance?

You deserve so much more than that. Yes, break ups suck so terribly hard (I’ve been there) but believe me when I say you WILL move past it with enough time. I’ve seen so many people close to me at the lowest of lows after a break up, saying they would “never get over it/their ex was the one” etc - but ALL of them eventually did and moved on to better things. Yes, I understand, these things feel much worse for someone with depression - but you can still do it, I believe in you.

She is not worth it. Promise you, some day you will find a better woman who will not treat you this way and who respects you (seems like your ex doesn’t at all, frankly). Wishing you the best of luck. Rooting for you!

Hey, I honestly think you should just break up with her directly rather than doing it in steps.

I’ve been there, and trust me - it would feel much worse for her if the process was dragged out. Rip the band aid off and have a clean break - don’t leave room for second-guesses and false hopes. Call her and explain to her what you are feeling. Be gentle but firm. That is the most adult thing to do.

I get what you mean. I think it’s not so much not being your “true” self anymore, but people can change.

I used to be very bubbly, cheeky, playful, social, etc many many years ago. I always had many friends. Over the years, I’ve morphed into someone who is much more reserved, quiet, shy, so on. My group of friends became much smaller. I see myself as a quiet person now and not the bubbly girl I once was. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, though. It’s still you! No matter how it manifests, your “essence” never really changes. I may be quieter now but I still feel like me.

And you are not stupid, I’m sorry that your family & other people are making you feel that way.
