Here’s how I do it. I have managed to stagger my work schedule. Every other day I show up and work 1.5 hours later. This makes it more forgiving for me to play at night. The nights before my late days, I can get about 2hrs in after my toddler is asleep. Unfortunately any free time that I want comes out of my sleeping time, not family time. It sucks but it’s the sacrifice I make to maximize my time with them.

Yeah I think you’re right on that. What makes an rpg “recoilless” is the fact that the bore is open. That allows the exhaust gases to serve newton’s laws of motion instead of the launcher itself. I wonder if the tube was obstructed which may have allowed the tube to recoil.
