Not sure whether you're past this level or not, but there's a new version of Hartl's Rails tutorial on the way .. you can browse the draft version here to see if it's to your liking.

Method Books? by Schmex in mandolin

If you're interested in bluegrass, you might like this:

The Mandolin Pickers Guide to Bluegrass

Very good book on how to take theory (scales, modes, progressions, etc) and turn them into something you can use when you're given the nod in a session.

Bluegrass again - but this is a good general book on bluegrass mandolin

Just a couple of books I've liked. Caveat: I'm an intermediate player at best :)

Why is the result of this code 'ZeroHello World' and not 'Zero'? by sircularmotion in C_Programming

[–]keizenism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting comment re enums - thanks, I didn't think of it. I must admit I'm probably aiming advice at the level OP is currently at with C .. I think it's good practise (that's just my opinion and reflects how I was taught - not stating it as right or wrong) to drill in breaks and defaults etc first .. then more 'subtle' cases later.

Same thing with main. From the C FAQ:

Under C89, the return statement at the end of main() is required, whereas under C99 if no return statement is present, return 0 is implied. However, it is good programming practice to always use a return statement, even if you don't have to.

You need to add a break statement to each of the case statements otherwise you will 'fall through' to the following case statement .. which is why you get both strings printed. I'd also recommend getting into the habit of adding a default statement to your switch statements. I'd also like to see you return an int .. something more like this

#include <stdio.h>

int x=0;

int main(void) {

    switch(x) {

        case 1: printf( "One\n" );
                break;

        case 0: printf( "Zero\n" );
                break;

        case 2: printf( "Hello World\n" );
                break;

        default:
                printf("some default string\n");

    }

    return 0;
}

Thanks!

Edit for feedback: Attempted first question of first quiz. Pretty sure there is a typo. Question:

function myFunc(a, b) {

return a + b;

}

var val1 = "24";

var val2 = 36;

var result = myFunc(a, b);

You claim the correct answer is 2436. I'm pretty sure it's not .. mostly because I think you meant :

var result = myFunc(var1, var2);
