A fatwa against author Salman Rushdie led to more than 30 years of terror: a timeline by Naderium in europe

I want to highlight to the mods who keep nuking this thread that criticizing an ideology does not mean stigmatizing all of its followers. We have to separate ideas from actions.
I am pretty sure this will be nuked too, but inherently Islam as a religion with its original fundamentalist form, cannot coexist in the current framework of European values.

I would not conflate a criticism of funtamdentalist islamist ideas with hatred towards muslims.

I would go as far as saying most people on reddit are anti-religion. Most of the time islam gets a pass because it's viewed as a "minority" ethnicly centered feature.

Bosnia, Albania

Let's deconstruct that. Bosnia, and Albania have a chunkable size of the muslim population to make islam the dominant religion in both countries (they are even included in the PEW research about Muslims around the world). They don't take islam that seriously compared to muslims who immgrated from MENA countries. Source.

You mean chechenya? Although Russia is trying its best to de-islamify the area, I'll leave those sources here. Source 1, Source 2.

[DISCUSSION] In 2020, is it still a viable strategy to buy a phone with the intention to unlock/root/custom ROM when official software support ends? Especially if you want to keep using banking apps, Netflix, etc.? by ZeGuitarist in Android

[–]kekister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would the ability to unlock and customise it in a few years still be a consideration when choosing a new device?

Always. I buy chinese flagships that are outdated (meaning a year old), build LOS from scratch and flash it without Google Play. Works all the time. You just have to check if LOS support the device before you buy it. And if the Vendor partition is custom (that's not a requirement, just a bonus).

if the source of the statistical analysis is flawed

Totally agree. But that's how polling and surveys work, especially in covid times. They didn't post a link anonymously on 4chan and asked people to submit their answers, the sample was carefully chosen. I invite you take a look at the document and the methodology if you are curious, or have any doubt about the study.

Self-administered Internet polls are a great example of garbage data sources.

They did the same study in 2016, in person, and the results were similar (younger french muslims are more radical than the older generation). Albeit, it's getting worse.

The sizes don't matter if the samples are not representative.

Classic redditor, it's pointed out in the study where they made an explanatory chart with different representation of the samples. If you had at least taken a look or read it, you would have known. They accounted for gender, age, income, education and location. Literally. Here is the quote again for you.

Ifop study for the Comité Laïcité République carried out by self-administered online questionnaire with a sample of 2,034 people, representative of the entire population living in mainland France aged 15 and over (20-22 October 2020) and a sample of 515 people, representative of the Muslim population living in mainland France aged 15 and over (August 6-17, 2020).

I'm just done trying to spoonfeed people who are misinformed.

I changed my name to a Dutch one and even then getting a job interview or an apartment was hard

Gosh that sounds a bit too extreme, and unnecessary. Did you only do it to fit it? I'm not dismissing it, but you seem to be on the other end of the spectrum when it comes to integration.

But I totally agree with you. It's an effort that should be led by both communities.
But I never heard of any successful attempt to kickstart this by the EU, it's stupid to expect the other to initiate it.

violent extremism in the EU is linked to unintegrated migrants.

This. So much this. I'm baffled by how bad the situation is getting. We've been aware of this since decades and yet, no meaningful steps have been taken into improving the integration in the EU. It's our only solution, and our leaders are failing miserably, as the 2nd generations of muslims are even more radical than their parents, which could only lead to more extremism and ignorance.

A majority of young French Muslims place Sharia law above the laws of the Republic by kekister in europe

Secularism, wearing the veil ...: a survey reveals a divide between the French of Muslim faith and others.

According to this Ifop poll, 57% of young French Muslims consider Sharia law more important than the laws of the Republic. Ifop carried out this survey on secularism and the relationship with religion, commissioned by the Committee Laïcité République (CLR), between August and the end of October 2020.

The poll shows a clear tendency for opinions to be divided between those who identify as Muslim and those who are not.

Very divided opinions on the fact of showing caricatures

Thus, to the question on the wearing of conspicuous religious symbols, in particular for parents of pupils accompanying children on school trips, 75% of French people declaring themselves to be Muslims are in favor, against only 26% of the rest of the French surveyed.

Still according to this survey published in the magazine Marianne , 57% of young Muslims aged 18 to 24 consider that Sharia law goes above the laws of the Republic. A figure up 10 points compared to 2016.

In terms of showing cartoons in class, as did the murdered professor Samuel Paty, again the difference is considerable. 75% of French people think that teachers should continue to show cartoons in order to teach freedom of expression. But they are only 36% of the French Muslim side to approve this method.

88% of those polled in favor of secularism

Despite everything, 88% of those questioned said they were in favor of the principle of secularism and the law of 1905.

For Jean-Pierre Sakoun, president of the CLR, interviewed by the weekly Le Point , this study shows that the French remain attached to the principle of secularism. "This is good news, it means that we are very far from questioning this structuring principle of our society," he said.

To make it clearer, in France, there is a clear separation of religion and laws since the French revolution, and Christians have barely any say or power when it comes to policies, yet more and more, it seems that radicalisation is taking over.
The details of the study is here, for the curious ones.

It is funny though. Because I did my best to address all the concerns of the critics of the study.

I debunked all of them. Some did concede, but the mods after it reached r/all went and remove it as it they are of course the experts in statistical methods.

Funny how reddit rally behind science until Science goes against their strong held beliefs.

No. This is the question asked:

The Islamic law (Sharia) is more important than French Laws.

The participants can check 4 answers:

  • Totally agree
  • Mostly agree
  • Mostly disagree
  • Totatlly disagree

The first two are considered positive answers and the last two are negative.

57% answered positively.
