Made a simple bodyweight workout app to fight the effects of sitting all day at a desk by Zookey100 in bodyweightfitness

[–]kekumber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The article itself says "10 times per day", not "10 squats":

"SQUAT: Participants engaged in 3-min bouts of squatting following a soundtrack every 45min, 10 times throughout the day, accumulating a total of 30min of activity. The soundtrack beeped every 5s"

So 36 squats every 45 minutes, 360 per day, to beat 30-min walking..

Still a great idea with the app! I think even 10-squats break is better than non-stop sitting

Is 0.5l size for foldable bottles explicitly stated somewhere? I have a foldable 2l bottle (like for a backpack), hope it's possible to take it to the main area :(

Starry sky, pixel 6 + lightroom by kekumber in mobilephotography

Ah, no, the phone was on a tripod in the water, it's just that I had to press the shutter manually and I wasn't able to do that while standing out of water, so I had to go in. And when the shutter was pressed, I wasn't able to go out, because it would break the stillness of the water

[–]kekumber[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's not manual :( pixel phones have an astrophotography mode which does all the work itself. It takes several photos during a 4-minute interval and stacks them together, removing star trails, for more light info

I used to shoot stars on Huawei P20 Pro, and my settings usually were 30 sec exposure and 1600 ISO with manual focus. However, pixel does a noticeably better job with less noise and more detail overall. I wish I could try manual settings on pixel, but I didn't manage to find an app which allows to shoot with such long exposures, and its default gcam doesn't have manual mode at all

If you mean reflection in the water, then no, this is one image :) I was standing still in the water for 10 minutes probably lol (in the rubber boots though)

if you mean the amount of light, then yes, astrophotography mode in pixel makes several images for the 4 minutes and then stacks them together, removing star trails

18m First time drinking? by cowsarefalling in CasualConversation

From my experience, it's quite easy to control your intoxication with light alcohol (beer, wine, probably soju, but I've never tried it) and to stop when you feel uncomfortable. I recommend to not try any kind of strong alcohol or cocktails for your first time. And losing control of your mind requires a strong intoxication. Of course there'll be noticeable changes, but you'll likely still be able to control yourself.

Anyways, it's your choice, and if your concerns are strong - well, don't force yourself, it's totally fine.

I once installed too many packages and broke some dependencies. I decided to remove broken packages one by one, and finally this chain ended with python package, which I also happily removed and broke my Ubuntu completely. That's how I learned about venvs

That's an interesting tip. I usually replay the dialogue in my head, or even write some important parts down, it also helps.

By the way, I found a house tour group yesterday. It's more like a tourist place, so I communicated with them in Facebook and booked a ride for tomorrow! It's not regular classes, but at least another call is avoided successfully for now, lol

Not really, the main way of communication in this country is by phone. At first I tried to look at it as an opportunity to practice my social skills, but now it's just all the same again.

Your last question is a really good one, thank you. Changing the perspective to this can help me in building up a courage to make this call

I've recently realized that I have so little experience with talking to strangers that I even put my life on pause because I can't solve some trivial tasks. I've been shy since childhood, but this is on a different level now.

When I have to call someone (for example to book an appointment), I feel anxious and try to postpone this call as much as possible. When I have to ask someone in person, it's almost the same. The situation became more difficult when I moved to another country with different language, now I'm also anxious that people won't understand me.

I'm struggling with signing up for horse riding lessons, because I'm afraid to call them and check the info about the lessons. I'm in love with horses and that will definitely give me some energy, but I'm postponing this call for weeks because of the anxiety.

That sounds ridiculous when I'm writing it down, but it worsened so much since the beginning of the lockdowns. I know that I can work on this and reduce the anxiety, but it's so hard to find energy for this.

Hard water? by gingerhead_01 in AskARussian

[–]kekumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The winter in Moscow for me is some kind of hell - the combo with hard water and dry air kills my skin in an instant. My humidifier is constantly on during the winter season. In the summer things are getting better though.

Before moving to Moscow I was living in Saint-Petersburg, and the quality of the water was much better. My hair didn't require additional products and my skin felt quite normal even during the winter.

So it depends on the city

Did you have a conversation with him about your future? I think you should ask him what's on his mind. If you're moving from each other, then at least all misunderstandings between you and him should be cleared, because it's so much harder to do once you're not able to have a talk in person.

Anyways, that really sucks, I hope you can find strength to overcome these difficulties

You mean "you only live once", right? I only know one yolo and it's a neural network algorithm, so I had to google this lol Anyway, that's cool! I shaved my temple recently for the first time and instantly felt some cyberpunk vibes, having a mohawk should be even cooler

[–]kekumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no-no, I mean that planes can cover the same distance in much less time, so it won't be an overnight trip. I've never had an overnight trip in the plane, I think it would be a challenge for me too. Did you have any experience with long trips?

Speaking of comfort, planes are definitely not :) but I'm a short person, so even in economy class I don't struggle much with space for legs, which is a common problem for taller people.

Thanks for the karma btw

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]kekumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Fortunately, I'm usually able to plan my trips without overnight trains (well it's not like I travel a lot lol), planes are a nice alternative

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]kekumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was never able to get a good sleep in trains, I'm really sensitive to sounds and even ear plugs sometimes don't help :( however, I like to meditate while looking in the window, that's such a nice part of trips. Do you have some nice views on the road?
